• The Daily Lesson from Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Before you is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Monday night, the 7th of Adar 5786, Parshas Tetzaveh:

1. We will perform the Krias Shema (recitation of the Shema) for the great-grandson whose Bris (circumcision) is tomorrow.

2. The Rebbe says that every time a new child is born, it is a new world, a new shefa (abundance).

3. Now, the great-grandson who was born will be a tzaddik (righteous person) and will merit to be Mashiach ben David (the Messiah, son of David).

4. Bithiah brought Moses home with mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice), and therefore, specifically the name she gave him remained.

5. And then there was the miracle with the plate of coals.

6. Haman's decree was so terrible. Because, as it is written, "and the multitude of his sons," Haman had sons all over the world. The decree was that in every place, the blood of the Jews was permitted. Thus, in practice, the gentiles began killing Jews even before the day set to "destroy, kill, and annihilate all the Jews, from young to old, children and women, in one day."

7. Daniel told Cyrus, "You will be king." Then they killed Belshazzar, and only in the morning did he become king.

8. Vashti hid when they killed Belshazzar, her father, and that is why she said to Ahasuerus, "I am Queen Vashti. The kingdom is mine by right (in my merit)."

9. She further added to Ahasuerus, "You don't know how to drink; my father (Belshazzar) drank a thousand barrels and did not get drunk."

10. Every baby that is born needs shmirah (protection); whoever is with Rebbe Nachman, Rebbe Nachman protects him.

11. The Gemara (Talmud) asks how it is possible that at first it is written that he [Saul] loved him [David] very much, and afterward it says, "Whose son is this youth?" How is this possible? Rather, he wanted to know if he descends from Perez—in which case he merits kingship—or if he descends from Zerah—in which case he merits wealth.

12. On Purim, we merit the Fiftieth Gate.

13. Everyone should study Likutey Halachos with his wife. Laws of a Surety (Hilchos Arev) 3, Circumcision (Milah) 4.
