On Wednesday, Parshas Beshalach, the night of the 8th of Shevat, a lesson was held for the residents of the city of Beer Sheva at the residence of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days). Before you is a summary of the topics covered during the lesson delivered by our teacher, the Rav shlit"a:

The entire Megillah (Scroll of Esther) is meant to rectify the Etz HaDa'as (Tree of Knowledge). Therefore, where is Haman hinted at in the Torah? From the verse "Haman HaEtz" (Is it from the tree? - a play on words with Haman's name), and the Tree of Knowledge represents the blemish of the eyes. Haman wanted Mordechai to be seen from the entire city. Rabbi Wells, a second before they hung him, asked to put on Tefillin (phylacteries), and because of this, he was saved. The "Pillar of Fire" was on the 15th of Nissan and not the 15th of Tishrei; so why do we celebrate Succos (Feast of Tabernacles) in Tishrei and not in Nissan as it should have been? And similarly, why do we celebrate Purim in Adar and not in Nissan? After all, the miracle occurred on the 15th of Nissan, as mentioned in the Megillah, "in the first month" (Nissan). Mordechai cried out a "great and bitter cry," but a "great and exceedingly bitter cry" was only said of Esau, because he knew that a blessing from the tzaddik (righteous person) is the highest thing; a person came to this world to receive a blessing from the tzaddik, a person came to this world to serve the tzaddik! Nehemiah saw the assimilation, where they married women who became Ashdodites, Ammonites, and Moabites, and he cursed them. The Gemara (Talmud) in Megillah calculates the seventy years at the end of which the Temple was supposed to be rebuilt. Today, it is impossible to bring anyone back in teshuvah (repentance) except through melodies; this is the secret of the Shirat HaYam (Song of the Sea). Haman said, "All this is worth nothing to me," and because of that, he lost everything. With Hashem's help, we will merit a happy Purim in thirty days.

After forty-five minutes of the lesson, our teacher the Rav shlit"a finished the lesson and went out for the Maariv (evening) prayer with a large multitude.
