A Lesson for the Residents of Holon at the Residence of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

On Wednesday, the night of the 19th of Tammuz, Parshas Pinchas, our followers (Anshei Shlomeinu) from the city of Holon entered for a lesson at the residence of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. The lesson lasted about forty minutes; before you is a summary of the lesson:

He began with a topic from the end of Tractate Bava Metzia regarding the secret of the yerek (vegetation/greenery) between the Upper Garden and the Lower Garden—this is the secret of the 310 worlds (Shai Olamot), as the gematria (numerical value) of yerek (ירק) is 310, which Hashem (the Holy One, Blessed be He) will grant to every tzaddik (righteous person) in the future. The Rav shlit"a continued by speaking about Eldad and Medad, and from there moved to the Gemara in Menachot 29b regarding how Rabbi Akiva would expound upon every tag (crown on the letters) mounds upon mounds of laws. He calculated how many tens of thousands of interpretations were involved. From the topic of calculations, he continued to the calculation brought in Rashi on the verse "like them and like them a hundred times," which involves multiplications of a trillion times a trillion times a trillion. This is the secret of Rivka’s (Rebecca's) pitcher, as he often mentions. Later in the lesson, he spoke about the verse, "Hashem, let me know my end, and what is the measure of my days," explaining that the inner meaning is that David [HaMelech] truly wanted to know if his root was from Leah or from Rachel, and he spoke about the connection between Rachel and Leah. As brought in the Yerushalmi (Jerusalem Talmud): 'What humility made a heel for its sole, fear made a crown for its head.' The explanation is that the "heel" of Leah—meaning if a person merits to be humbled and to accept bizyonos (humiliations) with love—then this is higher than the "crown" of Rachel. He also spoke about the secret of the Luz (an indestructible bone/city) and from Torah 85 [of Likutey Moharan], explaining that through the Luz one enters Beis El (the House of God). He said this is the secret of the egg eaten on the eve of Tisha B'Av (the fast of the ninth of Av), and it is the secret of the twenty-one days between the 17th of Tammuz and Tisha B'Av. He further added regarding the Luz that it is the bone of the Techiyas HaMeisim (Resurrection of the Dead) which is nourished by the Seudah Revi'is (the fourth meal on Saturday night). He cited the Kabbalist, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Morgenstern shlit"a, regarding the greatness of the obligation to eat the Seudah Revi'is.
