A Prayer to Merit Through the Eruv Tavshilin, Which Are the Aspect of the Two Tablets of the Covenant, to Draw Down Light and Abundance from the Gate

A Prayer for Eruv Tavshilin on Erev Yom Tov
Master of the Universe, the Almighty, grant us the merit through the Eruv Tavshilin (the ritual blending of cooked foods) that we may be able to prepare from Yom Tov for Shabbos. Through the Eruv Tavshilin, we draw down the holiness of Yom Tov from the Fiftieth Gate to Shabbos. By taking two cooked foods, preparing them, and dedicating them for Shabbos, we reveal that these two cooked foods are the aspect of the Two Tablets of the Covenant—Chochmah (Wisdom) and Binah (Understanding). On every Yom Tov, the Fiftieth Gate is revealed, for the Tablets were given on Shabbos and Yom Tov. It is written, "Slaughter an animal and prepare it" (Genesis 43:16). By preparing food from Yom Tov for Shabbos, a person draws down the Fiftieth Gate from the right nostril of the Divine Countenance (a Kabbalistic concept referring to the source of the ultimate breath of life), from where the "life of lives" flows. We connect Yom Tov with Shabbos, uniting the forty-nine gates with the Fiftieth Gate. We draw down illumination from the Fiftieth Gate to Shabbos, sanctifying the entire Shabbos with the light of the Fiftieth Gate.
Please, Master of the Universe, the Almighty, grant me the merit on the upcoming Shabbos—may it come to us for good—to sanctify it with the illumination of the Fiftieth Gate. May the entire Shabbos be illuminated with the light of the Fiftieth Gate. May all the foods, baked goods, and challahs shine with the light of Shabbos that is drawn from the Fiftieth Gate. This is the gate that Mashiach ben David will reveal to us in perfection. May we, and every Jew, never again experience a descent from the Fiftieth Gate. May we always remain in the Fiftieth Gate, the Gate of Geulah (Redemption) forever, in the merit of the Eruv Tavshilin that we are setting aside right now.
