"All Calamities are Due to a Lack of Modesty" • The Daily Lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Presented before you is a summary of topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Thursday night, the 19th of Kislev, Parshat Vayeshev:

The Emperor Diocletian—children from the cheder (Torah school for young children) of Rabbi Yehuda Nesiah threw a stone at his head because he was a swineherd in front of their cheder, so he later put Rabbi Yehuda Nesiah into a fiery furnace. The children throw stones, but the women do not. The Shelah HaKadosh says that during the sin of the Golden Calf, the filth of the serpent returned to the men, but not to the women; the women did not sin in any way, neither with the Golden Calf nor with the Spies. The women place the red scarf on Yom Kippur and it turns white (a sign of Divine forgiveness). The Gemara (Talmud) says that if a daughter is born, one receives two hundred, and if a son is born, one receives one hundred, because a woman possesses an intellect a million times greater than Laban. A woman grasps everything in five minutes; Beruriah, the wife of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes, learned in one day what others learn in three years. It is written that between one 'Ezel' and another 'Ezel' (referring to a specific Torah verse) there were 400 camels, and they hid this because they only spoke the names of the Tzaddikim; they were able to resurrect the dead. Every woman once used to fly through the air from Tzippori to the Beis HaMikdash (Holy Temple) out of sheer longing, and she would manage to return before her dough would overflow. Every woman needs to say three Tikkun HaKlalis (The General Rectification) every day, and to say Chatzos (the Midnight Lamentation). In another 20 minutes we will finish the prayer; every girl should go home and lengthen her skirt, because every day soldiers are being killed—a building collapsed in Rafah and soldiers were killed because skirts are not being lengthened and Xiaomi (smartphones) are not being broken. All the calamities are because the girls do not walk with tzniut (modesty); they do not lengthen their skirts and they do not break their Xiaomi phones. And by doing this, the complete Geulah (Redemption) will come speedily in our days, Amen!
