And You Shall Cast Into the Depths of the Sea • Tashlich with the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Following the custom of the Jewish people and the holy courts to perform Tashlich (the prayer for casting away sins) on the final days of the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah (Ten Days of Repentance). Also in the holy community of Shuvu Banim, headed by our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a, Tashlich was performed with a great multitude together with the Rav shlit"a on Thursday, the 8th of Tishrei—during the Ten Days of Repentance—prior to the Maariv (evening) prayer from the balcony of his home.
On the balcony, the Rav shlit"a stood before a special fish pond that was brought in advance to the holy chamber. Afterward, he turned to the prayer stand and began reciting the Tashlich word by word, including all the verses, supplications, and requests, starting with "Mi El Kamocha" (Who is a G-d like You) and "Ranenu Tzaddikim b'Hashem" (Rejoice, O righteous, in Hashem) with a melody. Subsequently, he recited the entire long version of the Yehi Ratzon (May it be Your will) and the supplications customary to recite according to the Breslov tradition. During this, the Rav shlit"a added personal requests of his own, saying, "May the war cease and may all the hostages return..." and more. After Tashlich, while still standing, the Rav shlit"a began the Maariv (evening) prayer as he does every day.
