At the Molad (New Moon), the Revelation of the Month of Adar Begins • The Daily Lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Before you is a summary from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Monday night, the 20th of Shevat, Parshat Mishpatim:

We have now composed a prayer for the Molad (new moon) of Adar; at 6:41, the revelation of Mordechai and Esther begins. Afterward will be the Molad of the month of Nissan. Every day [of Nissan] involves the offerings of the Nesi'im (tribal leaders); every day there are twenty-one offerings corresponding to twenty-one kings. Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses our teacher) did not understand why the Torah should be given through him—why not give it to Rabbi Akiva? Hashem (The Holy One, Blessed be He) told him, "Be silent." Moshe wanted to see his [Rabbi Akiva's] reward and saw that they were combing his flesh with iron combs, but he [Rabbi Akiva] was a gilgul (reincarnation) of Zimri, so he had to atone. In another three hours it will be Chatzos (midnight prayer); every girl should say the entire Tehillim (Psalms) and study the books of Shmuel (Samuel) and Melachim (Kings) I and II. Every girl needs to be a manager; a girl has a million times more perception than a boy. Seminaries must be opened in all the kibbutzim. In one day, Gaza can be conquered, just as Shimon and Levi killed [the people of] Shechem. Also, regarding the Concubine of Gibeah, they killed an entire tribe in one day. Rachel saw everything and called him "Ben Oni" (son of my sorrow); six hundred managed to escape and were not killed, and among them was Shaul (Saul). Eliyahu HaNavi (Elijah the Prophet) knocked down the wall and saved Rav Hamnuna from prison. A woman has a million times more intellect than a man; everyone should study Likutey Halachot with his wife. In the laws of Chovel B'Chaveiro (one who wounds his fellow), he speaks about the 20th of Sivan; in the year 5408 (ת"ח), Mashiach (the Messiah) was certainly supposed to arrive. When the Bukharans immigrated to the Land [of Israel], they prepared a house for Mashiach; today it has become a Bais Yaakov (school for girls). The men will wake up at five; the girls will wake up at eight-thirty and go to the seminary. The boys will study six pages of Gemara (Talmud). Bigthan and Teresh took the snake out of the jar that they had accustomed Achashverosh to, but Hashem created a new snake. Also, the sons of Haman were "Shimshai"; they erased Mordechai's name from the Book of Remembrances, but Hashem wrote it anew every time. The moment the Tzaddik (righteous leader) is present, there are no problems at all. Next Thursday will be the Molad (new moon); everyone will say Hallel (psalms of praise) and Musaf (additional prayer). Once, we used to finish the Vatikin (sunrise prayer) of Sunday at five in the morning after Melaveh Malkah (the post-Shabbat meal) all night; we shortened it to two, then to eleven, and now we finish at nine-thirty.
