Eighty Years Since the Passing of Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin - A Prayer from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Today marks eighty years since the passing of Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin, Hy"d (may Hashem avenge his blood), zy"a (may his merit protect us). Our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), spoke of his greatness several times, primarily regarding his prayers to annul the decree of the Holocaust in the Land of Israel. When he did not succeed, he returned to Europe to ascend the pyre (be martyred) together with all his Chassidim (followers). Before you is a segment from one of the lessons in which our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, spoke about him:

"Like Rabbi Avraham Elimelech—he traveled to Meron and he screamed, screamed, screamed; the screams were heard as far as Tzfat—screams that there should not be a Holocaust. There was supposed to be a Holocaust [in the Land of Israel], that six million would be killed. Then his attendant ran to him, took a cup of boiling milk, and put it on the fire. We are talking about 5699 (1939)—there was no [electricity] yet, there were only wicks. He put it on a primus stove so it would boil. It boiled and boiled, reaching two hundred degrees. He ran to the Rebbe with the two hundred-degree milk: 'Rebbe, you are expiring (fainting from exhaustion)!' He said to him, 'Let me expire, I have not succeeded in my mission!' [Translation: Rebbe, you are perishing! He said to him, 'Let me perish, I did not succeed in accomplishing (the spiritual goal)!']."

Before you is a prayer written by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, regarding Rabbi Avraham Elimelech of Karlin Hy"d:
