"Every woman who is holy and pure, her sons will fly in the air!" • The daily lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Before you is the full daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Thursday night, the 20th of Tammuz, Parshas Pinchas:
"All the girls who haven't registered for Netivot HaChinuch (educational paths) should register with Chava Stern, 'Yedidut Mishkenotecha' to be principals. To know all the algebra, mathematics, [geometry]. To know that every width is three times [the diameter]. If it's ten, then it's thirty; if it's twenty, then it's sixty; and if it's thirty, then it's ninety. Now, 'it is not exact' explains the Maharit (Rabbi Yosef di Trani) in Responsa (1) [8]. He says that three and a seventh is 3.14, meaning if it's ten, then it's 31.4; if it's twenty, it's 62.8. And if it's thirty, then it's 94.2. At forty, it's already 125.6. So everything is multiplied by 3.14. And the courtyard of the Mishkan (Tabernacle) – we learn from the courtyard of the Mishkan how to extract a square root. Every girl needs to know how to extract a square root; at age thirteen, one must know how to extract a square root. Hashem gave a girl at age thirteen an intelligence, an IQ, a million times greater than a man. 'Binah Yeseirah' (extra understanding), that's why they are called 'Banos' (daughters/girls). It is written in the [book] Perach Shoshana now on the Torah portion, why they are called 'Banos' because they have Binah Yeseirah. More than the man, because the daughters of Zelophehad had Binah Yeseirah more than the man; they were merciful, they were the wisest in the generation. The entire Geulah (Redemption) is in their merit. Because the Rebbe says in section 37 that the entire Geulah will only be in the merit of the girls who walk with Tzniut (modesty), who are careful not to go to Jaffa Street to such places, to all the temptations. Because for a girl, the temptations are greater than for a boy. But on the other hand, she has more intellect to withstand all the temptations and to know that this is from the Satan. 'And remove the Satan from before us and from behind us' – our body is a body of Satan; it's not the body Hashem created us with. Hashem created us with a body like a fluorescent light that shines from one end of the world to the other. The heel of Adam HaRishon (the first man) outshone the sphere of the sun. After the sin, we received the light of the serpent, the light of the Satan. And every body is a body of Satan that says to a person: Come to Jaffa Street, let's come home at three in the morning – after Maariv (evening prayer) everyone goes home, there's no such thing [as staying out]. And whoever can go to sleep at ten and wake up at ten, if not then at eleven or twelve, then let him study – let him study Chayei Moharan, let him study Shivchei HaRan, let him study Sichos HaRan about the Rebbe's journey to Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel). He [Rebbe Nachman] was among the captives; they wanted ten thousand terrorists for him. Now Bibi was in Congress, they discussed there whether to release the Rebbe or not. But the Captain said, 'I wanted to sell him to one of the Sheikhs in Saudi Arabia or Sudan,' that was my plan. The Rebbe says, 'I prepared myself not to have a Siddur (prayer book) or anything, not to know the calendar, and not to know when Yom Kippur or Shabbat is. I already prepared for everything. I knew they were going to sell me to Sudan, or Saudi Arabia, or Afghanistan.' He says, 'I am a son after a son, the Philistines handed me over; if a Jew falls into my hands, woe to what I will do to him, I will turn him into a Canaanite slave, a pierced slave to one of the Sheikhs.' The Rebbe says, 'I already prepared to keep Yom Kippur only according to Ruach HaKodesh (Divine Inspiration), without knowing when it is.' So I prepared for everything. Because it is written in Chesed L'Avraham that to travel to Eretz Yisrael it is worth going into captivity. He says those who travel to Eretz Yisrael and fall into captivity and are sold as slaves – that's how it was in all generations. They sold them as slaves. There are letters that someone wrote from the island of Crete; he writes, 'They sold me,' he writes to Naples, to Ancona, 'send money to release me, they want a Pidyon (ransom).' I am writing you a letter – all the letters exist. He published all the letters people wrote from captivity to Naples and Ancona, where the billionaires were, to send money to redeem me. People traveled to Eretz Yisrael and fell into captivity. They were robbed; even the Chida (Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai) was in captivity; even the Chida says he was saved by a miracle. Robbers attacked his ship; he managed to hide the money. The Rebbe was certainly among the captives. Adel was among the captives, even the daughter of the Baal Shem Tov. And then the Shamash (attendant) said to the Rebbe, 'Rebbe, why are you silent? Give a shout!' He says, 'I cannot shout, I have no Mochin (spiritual consciousness), everything flew away from me, I am tied to a tree, and look, they are sharpening the knives, already preparing the bonfires.' And then the Baal Shem Tov asked the Shamash, 'Do you know anything?' He says, 'I don't remember anything, everything flew away from me, I am tied to the tree with handcuffs, with zip ties.' They lit bonfires to roast us, to make us into shawarma in honor of the Seder night – they also kept the Seder night – to make shawarma from the Baal Shem Tov and from Adel. They said, 'This is a delicacy, this is the tastiest meat in the world, so let's taste it.' And then the Baal Shem Tov said to Reb Hersh, 'Maybe you can say something? Say a letter, say Aleph, say Beis.' He says, 'Yes, I remember Aleph-Beis.' 'Aleph-Beis is wonderful! Shout Aleph-Beis!' He shouted 'Aleph, Beis, Gimmel, Dalet, Hey, Vav, Zayin, Ches, Tes, Yud.' Suddenly they hear a chariot arrived – the FBI! Apparently, they hid the cellphones so they wouldn't succeed – I don't know if they carry cellphones, apparently they were kosher cellphones, surely. In short, the CIA arrived, the FBI arrived, he heard a chariot flying on horses – maybe Bibi arranged it. And the chariot travels and all the robbers fled – they are called the Haidamakas (Cossack paramilitary bands). The Haidamakas are cannibals; that was the name of the Cossacks once, who were cannibals. And Reb Hirsh Leib also tells us that the Haidamakas caught him and threw him high like a ball. They just released the booklet about Reb Hirsh Leib, that they threw him like a ball, like a tennis ball, to a height of a hundred meters. And thus he fell like David from a height of a hundred meters. So Reb Hirsh Leib was also among the captives. This was with Reb Yaakov Zhitomir. It wasn't Moshe Gruman – not Yisrael Gruman, it was Yaakov Zhitomir. They played with both of them like tennis balls, and outside it was minus sixty. And they were frozen; finally, they succeeded and released them, and then they ran, they ran with their clothes in hand. They saw a twinkling light, entered a house, broke down the door. The Gentile woman jumped from the window and broke her arm, and the poor old man broke his leg. And after that, they managed to pray from four in the morning until twelve at night – not like here from four to eight, from four until twelve they prayed. And they jumped with the Tallis (prayer shawl) and Tefillin (phylacteries), and of course [the Gentiles said:] 'Demons came from Mars!' The whole village gathered to see the demons. There was one old man who said, 'These are not demons, these are Jews. I was once in Kiev, I saw a synagogue there, I saw Jews with Tallis and Tefillin – these are Jews.' In short, after twelve they said, 'Come on, break all the tables and chairs,' they paid a hundred rubles in compensation there. And then the whole village accompanied them to the train, about six hours from the train. So all this speaks of how once the Rebbe was among the captives, David was among the captives, and they wanted ten thousand terrorists. In the end, Bibi compromised on five thousand. Finally, Avishai arrived; he was born from Tzeruiah. Why Tzeruiah? Because she was like a 'Tzur' (rock), like a stone. A woman needs to be like a stone, so Tzeruiah was. Why was she called Tzeruiah? She was the daughter of Yishai (Jesse), she was a stone, so all her sons flew in the air. If the woman is a stone, then everyone flies in the air. So Yoab (Joab) flew onto the wall of Rabbath Ammon. He bent the cedar tree with its top, and the top launched him thirty meters high. And after that came Avishai, he flew to Gaza, entered Gaza without permission from the army of course, and he released David. He said the explicit Name of Hashem, and after that was Asahel who would run upon the tops of the stalks of grain. All these were born to Tzeruiah the daughter of Yishai, whose father was clean of all sin and was... therefore it is written 'Bas Nachash' (daughter of the serpent). Therefore it is written in Bava Basra (Talmudic tractate) page 17. Everyone should learn Bava Basra; I know Shuvu Banim students don't learn Bava Basra. They love Bava Kamma, not Bava Basra. But Bava Basra was actually a good grandmother, a 'Bubbe' (grandmother) Tova, she was an excellent Bubbe. I don't know why they don't learn it, why they fight with the 'Bubbe' with the 'Basra' [pun on Bava Basra sounding like 'the last grandmother']? Because Tuvia Beilis was also among the captives; he was in prison for a year and a half. They said he slaughtered a child; they found forty-nine stabs in Kiev. So they brought the priest from Tashkent; he says, 'I know the entire Shas (Talmud), I know the entire Shas by heart, forwards and backwards.' So there was a lawyer there, I don't know who it was... the lawyer was from Moscow, he was a Jewish lawyer, he said, 'Do you know Bubbe Basra – Bava Basra? Do you know this grandmother?' 'Bubbe Basra...' he started to think: Sarah, Rivka, Rachel, Leah – he went through the whole Chumash (Pentateuch), he knew the Tanakh (Bible) by heart. He went through the whole Tanakh and didn't find any Bubbe in the Tanakh; he searched for the grandmother in the Tanakh. He [the lawyer] said, 'You don't know what Bava Basra is, so how can you say you know the entire Shas by heart, forwards and backwards, word for word, letter for letter?' In any case, he said everything. In the end, there was a jury and Nikolai said he should be taken and hanged. He said, 'I know not all Jews need blood, but there are Jews who need blood, I know several Jews... so there are some Jews who put blood in the Matzos, I'm not saying it's everyone, but he must be judged.' They found forty-nine stabs, seven times seven. He says this is all seen according to the Sod (secret/Kabbalistic) level; one sees it is all according to Kabbalah. Everyone should read the book of Tuvia Beilis; you need to read it to know this. What the Jews went through exactly a hundred years ago, [the year] 5671 (1911). So the priest from Tashkent who 'knew the entire Shas by heart, knew everything word for word' and they brought him to give testimony, so he also got into a conflict with this Bubbe – with this grandmother. And Shuvu Banim certainly get into a conflict with this grandmother; her name is Bava Basra. So in Bava Basra it is written on page 17 – I know Shuvu Banim don't study page 17, they have some allergy against page 17 – so there it is written 'Abigail Bas Nachash' (daughter of the serpent). So the Gemara (Talmud) asks, was she the daughter of a serpent? Shechem son of Chamor was the son of a donkey (Chamor), but Abigail the daughter of a serpent? It says no, her father had no sin in the world. She was clean of all sin, just as the serpent feels no taste in anything. So she had no taste for any desire; she was clean of all desire. And therefore she merited Amasa, and all the sons of Tzeruiah, her sister as well, she was also like her, they would all fly in the air. And every woman who is holy and pure, her sons will fly in the air, and they will learn Torah day and night, and we will merit the complete Geulah (Redemption) speedily in our days, Amen!".
