"If a daughter is without material desire, she has one passion: to fly to the Beis HaMikdash" • The Daily Lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Presented before you is a summary of topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Sunday night, the 10th of MarCheshvan, Parshas Vayeira:

One who is close to the Tzaddik is forgiven for everything and can live for hundreds of years. One who is connected to Rebbe Nachman is sealed [for a good year] on Rosh Hashanah; the rest of Israel on Yom Kippur; the wicked on Hoshana Rabbah; and the most wicked on the night following Simchas Torah. We would sing, pray, and dance for hours upon hours; the fathers would arrive on Shabbat at four in the afternoon. Every father must watch over his son during the time of prayer, and if he cannot, he should stay home with him; he is exempt from [communal] prayer. A son who does not study Gemara (Talmud) is worth nothing; a daughter is worth twice as much as a son. Tomorrow is the yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing) of Rachel Imeinu (our mother Rachel); let everyone light a candle. A daughter does everything automatically; one doesn't need to tell her anything. If the father is in a state of depression, the child throws stones. The Gemara says that one who brings news that a son was born receives a maneh (a measure of currency), but for a daughter, he receives two hundred. All daughters should be principals and open a thousand seminaries, each with a thousand girls. That is a million women doing teshuvah (repentance). And the sons need to be Roshei Yeshiva (heads of academies); they must know Gemara—the entire Gemara is stories. One must sit with the children to study Gemara, and afterwards take them to the graves of Tzaddikim in Amuka and Meron. Women also need to study Rambam (Maimonides) and Kitzur Shulchan Aruch (Abridged Code of Jewish Law). If a daughter is without [material] desire, she has one passion: to fly to the Beis HaMikdash (the Holy Temple), like the women in Tzippori who used to fly. The Rebbetzin would transform entire settlements into ba'alos teshuvah (women returning to faith). There is no difference between a daughter and a son; therefore, Devorah [the Prophetess] brought the salvation to the Jewish people.
