"It is an Obligation for Each and Every Person to Vaccinate His Sons and Daughters" • The Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in a Public Call

Due to the high morbidity of measles, particularly in the Jerusalem area, and after, to our great sorrow, three infants from our community passed away because they were not vaccinated against the measles epidemic.
Our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), issues a public call clarifying his clear opinion: that every single person must vaccinate his sons and daughters from the age of half a year, according to the words of our holy Rebbe Nachman.

Before you is the full letter:

A Letter of Strengthening for Measles Vaccination
To the parents and students of Nechamat Zion Shuvu Banim, and also the female students of the Be'er Miriam school and the boys' and girls' kindergartens of Nechamat Zion Shuvu Banim.
11 children have passed away. Just yesterday, on Wednesday, three who were not vaccinated passed away.
Therefore, it is an obligation for each and every person to vaccinate his sons and daughters from the age of 1/2 a year.
And there will be no harm from the vaccinations.
We shall only fulfill the words of our Rebbe Nachman to perform 'pakin' (vaccination) immediately after birth [Sichos HaRan 15].
With the blessing of the Torah and with great love,
Your faithful servant,
Eliezer Berland
