Jerusalem is Protected: Every Missile is Burned Upon Entering Jerusalem • The Daily Lesson from Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Here is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – after the Maariv (evening) prayer on Sunday night, the eve of the 13th of Adar 5786, Parshat Ki Tisa:

1. Everyone should learn with his wife Orlah 4:5. One must learn all of Likutey Halachos (the collected laws based on Rebbe Nachman's teachings) until Purim. And everyone needs to know Gemara Megillah (the Talmudic tractate regarding Purim).

2. Vashti said to Ahasuerus: "You don't know how to drink; my father drank a thousand measures of wine and did not get drunk. You drank one cup and are already talking nonsense."

3. Because Ahasuerus was the stableman and Vashti was a daughter of kings.

4. Zeresh was the only one who didn't die because she said to Haman: "If Mordechai is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, for you will surely fall before him."

5. People never saw the Rebbe (Rebbe Nachman) learning in his life. The Tzaddikim (righteous ones) hide their service of Hashem (God).

6. "The kings of the earth and all the inhabitants of the world did not believe that the adversary and the enemy would enter the gates of Jerusalem" (Lamentations 4:12). Missiles are not thrown at Jerusalem. Even if a missile arrives, it will be burned in the air.

7. Shuvu Banim (the Rav's community) are the protectors of Jerusalem.

8. There is a dispute as to when Haman was hanged—whether on the 17th or the 16th of Nissan. Therefore, regarding what is written in the Haggadah, "that they were reclining in Bnei Brak," one of the explanations is that they traveled to observe the yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing) of the descendants of Haman who studied Torah in Bnei Brak.
