Just as He Entered the Covenant • The Bris of the Great-Grandson of the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

This week, on Thursday, Parshas Vayetzei, the 4th of Kislev, the Bris (circumcision) ceremony for the great-grandson of our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, took place in his holy residence. The Bris was for the son of the personal attendant, R' Aharon Zucker, son-in-law of the Mohel (ritual circumciser) Rabbi Yosef Shor shlit"a, and great-grandson of the Chassid Rabbi Moshe Shor shlit"a.
At 11:10 AM, our teacher the Rav shlit"a entered the Bris ceremony during the calling of the kvatter (the couple who carries the baby). Honored with the Kiseh shel Eliyahu (Chair of Elijah) was the family relative, Rabbi Yaakov Yaroslavsky shlit"a, son of the righteous Chassid R' Nachman Yaroslavsky zt"l (of blessed memory). Our teacher the Rav shlit"a was honored with the Sandakaus (holding the baby during the circumcision); the act of the circumcision was performed skillfully by the grandfather, the Mohel Rabbi Yosef Shor shlit"a. Our teacher the Rav shlit"a was honored with standing for the blessings. His name in Israel was called Natan, son of Rabbi Aharon Zucker, may his light shine. May it be His will that just as he entered the covenant, so may he enter into the Chuppah (marriage canopy), the Torah, and good deeds, Amen! After the Bris ceremony, our teacher the Rav shlit"a proceeded to the seudas bris (festive meal) which took place nearby in his residence. First, the song "Yom LeYabasha" (Day of the Dry Land) was sung for about fifteen minutes, and afterwards, he delivered a lesson of approximately 27 minutes of "words of the Living G-d" regarding the spiritual greatness of the Bris Milah (circumcision) ceremony. After the lesson, he began singing "Yom LeYabasha" again, along with other songs of joy, with vitality and enthusiasm. After about 25 minutes, our teacher the Rav shlit"a instructed the grandfather, the Mohel Rabbi Yosef Shor shlit"a, to lead the Zimun (invitation to Grace After Meals) over a cup of wine, including the special additions for a Bris meal, "Nodeh LeShimcha BeToch Emunai." Our teacher the Rav shlit"a was honored with reciting the "HaRachaman" (The Merciful One) prayers for the Bris meal. At exactly 12:30 PM, our teacher the Rav shlit"a retired to his inner sanctum.
