Pikuach Nefesh (Saving a Life): We Must Go and Vote for United Torah Judaism - The Words of Rabbi Berland shlit"a

Powerful, unequivocal, and piercing holy words from the holy Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, regarding the necessity and importance of participating in the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) elections.

Rabbi Berland shlit"a said, "At this moment, we are in the most difficult situation the Jewish people has ever faced... all sorts of strange gezerot (decrees) are about to be decreed upon us. If there is a unity government of Bibi, Gantz, and Lapid, or if Gantz himself forms a government, the first thing they will do is decree against the religious. They will stop budgets for yeshivos (Torah academies), for Bais Yaakov schools, and for seminaries."

"All sorts of strange gezerot (decrees) will arise, just as Menashe and Achaz decreed regarding impurity. They want to forbid holy studies in schools and yeshivos. They want everything to become state-run and government institutions; this is truly an all-out war like never before."

"Therefore, it is an obligation for everyone to vote only for the United Torah Judaism party - 'Gimmel.' It is the only one fighting for the Shabbos (Sabbath), for budgets for yeshivos, and to ensure that everything remains in the hands of the Chareidim (ultra-Orthodox). Not in the hands of Reform Jews, not in the hands of tourists—as 70% of the nation demands."

"They want to turn the Kotel (Western Wall) into a desecrated place, emptied of all holiness and content, where only secular people will visit. The site will become a destination for organized tours of an archaeological site and ancient Judaica. All the Chareidim (ultra-Orthodox) will become like a nature reserve; they will look at us like Indians, like cave-dwellers."

"If, chas v'shalom (G-d forbid), we fail and Agudah [United Torah Judaism] does not enter the government, there could be terrible gezerot (decrees) such that within two years, not a trace of all Judaism will remain."

"It is an obligation for everyone to vote; 80% of the secular public doesn't care what they vote for, so they can easily be convinced to vote 'Gimmel' as well."

"The first thing in the morning is to go and vote. This is a Mitzvah d'Oraisa (Torah commandment) of Pikuach Nefesh (saving a life), so that they do not destroy the religion and the Torah. So that they do not enact gezerot (decrees) like in the time of the Greeks during Chanukah, who decreed against Bris Milah (circumcision), against Shabbos (Sabbath), and against Torah study. They could decree against everything; these are people who have lost all human form, who have lost their Jewish image."

"They have even lost the image of a gentile; the gentiles never dared to enact gezerot (decrees) against the Torah of the Jews. They want to make decrees against all of the 613 Mitzvos (commandments)."

"Rabbi Berland shlit"a blesses everyone who goes to vote that they should have a long life until 120 years—he, his sons and daughters, his grandsons and granddaughters, his great-grandsons and great-granddaughters, and all his descendants." The Rav shlit"a continues to bless those who go out to vote that they and their descendants should ascend in Torah study in all its parts and levels."
