Prayer After Lighting the Holy Shabbat Candles

Master of the Universe, the Omnipotent One, in the merit of lighting the Shabbat candles, through which I have drawn down the Light of the Infinite (Ohr Ein Sof) and the Light of the Seven Days [of Creation] into my home, grant me the merit that all the members of my household—my husband, my sons, and my daughters—will all see the Light of the Infinite and the Light of the Seven Days that I have drawn down into my home. And may all the members of my household merit, immediately after the lighting of the candles, a true Oneg Shabbat (Shabbat delight), to feel the Shabbat in a tangible way, to the point that it will be possible to physically feel the Shabbat, as it is said, "to make the Shabbat" (Exodus 31:16), through Shabbat zemiros (songs) and words of Torah. And may all the tables that I set in honor of Shabbat be filled with rich and sharp words of Torah, and may the entire table [meal] continue for several hours, through Shabbat zemiros, songs, and praises of Shabbat. "When I said, 'My foot is slipping,' Your loving-kindness, Hashem, supported me. When my disquieting thoughts are many within me, Your consolations cheer my soul" (Psalms 94:18-19). ©
