Prayer to Cancel the Draft Decree on Yeshiva Students
Almighty Master of the Universe, cancel the draft decree from upon Your nation, the House of Israel, from all the yeshiva students. May they merit to learn constantly, day and night, without a second's interruption, and to see the Name of Hashem before their eyes, day and night, without a second's interruption. And may I merit to see the combination of the Name of Havayah, 'Yud-Hei-Vav-Hei', before my eyes every single moment and second. May I not stumble in any evil thought, nor in any nocturnal emission, neither accidentally nor intentionally, neither by force nor willingly. May I know Tractate Yevamos by heart, word for word, letter by letter, and may I only learn Gemara 24 hours a day without a moment or second of interruption. May I not take my eyes off the letters of the holy and awesome books, which are the Torah of Hashem [transmitted] mouth to mouth, and may I merit the Torah of Hashem [transmitted] mouth to mouth. May I not have even a trace of pride. May I nullify myself to everyone, to each and every Jew, with the utmost nullification. May there not be found in me or in my offspring any opposition to any Jew in the world, and may I be completely nullified to every Jew who puts on tefillin and observes kashrus and Shabbos. May I always wait six hours after eating either poultry or beef—six hours until drinking milk. May I be strong and courageous, like Shimshon the hero [numerical value 696], whose heroism came from the Atik Yomin (the Ancient of Days) [numerical value 696]. May I always be filled with awe, trembling, fear, and reverence, and through this, may I merit to always pray with deep intention, word for word, and through this, may the army have no dominion over me whatsoever. May I be completely nullified from existence, and merit to be seeing but unseen. May I be completely nullified from physical existence, fulfilling what is said: 'He has no bodily form, nor is He a body.' May I merit to be like Moshe Rabbeinu, who 'gazes upon the image of Hashem,' and whose neck turned to marble, just like the neck of Yaakov when Esav came to bite him and tear out all his vital signs. And just as the necks of Yaakov and Moshe turned to marble, so that their enemies had no power over them, so too, may You grant me the merit—in the merit of praying with intention and learning Torah day and night—that no enemy will have any power over me, especially not the army, nor their affiliates, nor the affiliates of their affiliates. And in the merit of being released from the army in the blink of an eye, I will learn Torah day and night [numerical value 177] without a moment or second of interruption. And may I merit to enter Gan Eden (the Garden of Eden) [numerical value 177] with my physical body, like Serach the daughter of Asher, Bisyah the daughter of Pharaoh, Eliezer the servant of Avraham, and Yehoshua ben Levi.
