Prayer to merit being like dust and ashes in the month of Elul and to guard my
mouth from lashon hara and defamation which is more [severe than murder]

"Prayer for every day of the month of Elul"
Master of the World, Almighty, merit me in the month of "Elul" to be dust and ashes. In the merit of my meriting in the month of "Elul" to be dust and ashes, may I merit to revive all the dead in the world and to heal all the sick. For on Rosh Chodesh "Elul," Moshe ascended to the firmament to receive the second Tablets, "for the writing was the writing of G-d, engraved upon the Tablets." For in the forty days from Rosh Chodesh Elul until Yom Kippur, Hashem writes and engraves upon the Tablets the Ten Commandments, and all their details and the finest details of "Do not murder," and do not speak lashon hara and do not defame, which is more severe than murder. And also "Do not commit adultery," which includes infinite details of yichud (seclusion) and forbidden touches, about which King David, peace be upon him, says, "Also from willful sins restrain Your servant." And "Do not steal," which also includes the prohibitions of deceiving others (geneivat da'at), even if only for appearance's sake. And so too all the details and the finest details that are revealed anew in the month of "Elul," for every single day a new halachah is renewed. And Avraham our Father knew all the laws that were renewed and will be renewed until the end of all generations, even after the Resurrection of the Dead, for even then new laws will be renewed. For every single day we see Hashem, may He be blessed, face to face, with greater intensity and greater strength. And this is the greatness of the month of "Elul," that then we see Hashem, may He be blessed, truly, truly, face to face, as it is written in Parashat "Va'etchanan" (Deuteronomy 5:4), "Face to face Hashem spoke with you."
For the success of Talia daughter of Ziva and Ziva daughter of Rachel, that they should draw close to the true tzaddik.
