Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in a Moving Eulogy for Rabbi Eliyahu Meirav zt"l

The Holy Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), eulogizes this righteous and pious man, one of his greatest students, a Mashpia (spiritual influencer) of Torah to thousands who returned many from sin, the Chassid Rabbi Eliyahu Meirav zt"l (of blessed memory) - 20th of MarCheshvan 5784.

Eliyahu (Rabbi Eliyahu Meirav zt”l) has not passed away; he is alive and enduring—just as in the Torah portion of Chayei Sarah (the life of Sarah), Sarah remains alive.

"And these were the years of the life of Abraham," one hundred and seventy-five years Abraham lived, and therefore Eliyahu lives with us; he continues to live, and he will live forever. He will live like Abraham who lived 175 years, and like Shem (the son of Noah) who lived 600 years, and like Seth, and like Adam HaRishon (the first man) who lived 930 years.

He possessed the soul of Adam HaRishon—he left everything behind: Beit Alfa (the kibbutz where he grew up), the planes—he left it all. Even the planes of the Air Force; he was an F-16 pilot.

In Cyprus, he jumped from a height of 20 meters onto 20 terrorists who attacked an El Al plane. I was in Cyprus the day before; afterward, he arrived and jumped from 20 meters. He was a security guard inside the plane, and the plane was at a height of 20 meters. (The problem was that) every Jew who killed a terrorist would receive a life sentence; they wanted to give him a life sentence because he killed "innocent" people, "righteous people"—five "righteous" people. But he saved a plane with 200 people, because if he hadn't jumped on the terrorists, 200 people would have gone to Gan Eden (Paradise)—thankfully, they are all alive with us.

Now we must know that Eliyahu is alive and enduring. He was a soul from Adam Kadmon (the Primordial Man), a soul from Atika (the Ancient One/highest level of the Divine). He wasn't a regular human being at all; he was higher than an angel, because an angel doesn't have to leave anything behind, but he left everything. He left everything—the entire Air Force, the planes. He was an El Al security guard, the number one pilot—he left everything for the sake of Rebbe Nachman.

He saw the Rebbe (Rebbe Nachman) every single minute, alive and enduring. He alone in the entire generation merited to see the Rebbe every second. Our entire work is to follow after Eliyahu, so that his soul may perform an Ibbur (spiritual impregnation/attachment) within us. We must ask Hashem that he should attach himself to us so that we can see the Rebbe every second. And then we will merit the complete Geulah (Redemption) speedily in our days, Amen!
