Rabbi Yaakov Shachnazi shlit"a: "Anyone who speaks against Rabbi Berland shlit"a has no portion in the World to Come"

"The Rambam (Maimonides) rules that anyone who disparages Torah scholars has no portion in the World to Come (Olam HaBa), and Jerusalem was only destroyed because they disparaged Torah scholars within it. Heaven forbid (chalila v'chas), anyone who speaks against Rabbi Berland shlit"a enters into this category of disparaging Torah scholars, and woe to him and woe to his soul. There are those who have already lost their portion in the World to Come and have nothing left to lose, so they disparage and humiliate," so said Rabbi Yaakov Shachnazi shlit"a, the Rabbi of the Beit Yisrael neighborhood in Jerusalem, to the Breslov 'Information Line'.
Rabbi Yaakov Shachnazi, Rabbi of the Beit Yisrael neighborhood in Jerusalem, to the Breslov 'Information Line': "This wicked trend of recording Rabbis by recording them [secretly] is forbidden according to the Torah. That person who recorded me didn't even ask permission, didn't tell me he was recording me; this is called 'Do not plot evil against your neighbor while he lives securely beside you' (Proverbs 3:29). I spoke with him in sincerity with the aim of reconciliation, and he wickedly distorted the words, and the one who published it on the internet published it in an incorrect and inaccurate way. I don't want to use a harsher word.
"The Rambam rules that anyone who disparages Torah scholars has no portion in the World to Come, and Jerusalem was only destroyed because they disparaged Torah scholars within it. Heaven forbid, anyone who speaks against Rabbi Berland shlit"a enters into this category of disparaging Torah scholars, and woe to him and woe to his soul. There are those who have already lost their portion in the World to Come and have nothing left to lose, so they disparage and humiliate."
"If they want to turn to a Din Torah (Torah court case), fine, but why must they turn to secular courts (Arka'ot)? Why should the Rav have to sit in prison? They will have to give an account for this, especially as we stand before Rosh Hashanah. Everyone wants a good signature (Chatima Tova - for the new year)."
"I want to ask for forgiveness and pardon (selicha u'mechila) from all the students of Rabbi Berland shlit"a who, Heaven forbid, were hurt by the things written about them. These things never happened. My words were taken out of their true context. I only wanted to appease the person. Heaven forbid, I did not want this thing. I ask for forgiveness and atonement (selicha v'kapara) and ask that they say to me with a full mouth that they forgive me, and may we merit that the Rav shlit"a continues to lead his community as in days of old and years past."
