The Ben Ish Chai: A Fountain of Healing for All Illnesses in the World • The Miracle of the Spring that Burst Forth Beneath the Feet of the Ben Ish Chai

Today, the 18th of Sivan (Chai Sivan), is a day auspicious for salvations in the merit of the miracle of the spring that burst forth beneath the feet of the Ben Ish Chai zy"a (of blessed memory). Before you are holy words from the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), regarding the greatness of this day and the awesome story:
On the 18th of Sivan, the earth split open. In the year 5656 (1896), there was a terrible earthquake in Baghdad, and the entire synagogue that was in Baghdad sank into the ground. The Ben Ish Chai was giving a sermon to 3,000 people; suddenly, the entire floor sank. The earth opened its mouth, and everyone was supposed to be swallowed up. 3,000 people managed to escape in the merit of the sermon of the Ben Ish Chai, our master Rabbi Yosef Chaim. Then everyone merited to escape. And he remained standing like a mast at the top of the mountain—the bimah (prayer platform) remained alone; specifically, the bimah remained, and everything around the bimah sank, and a massive abyss opened with a spring of living water. "A flowing brook, a fountain of wisdom"—anyone who immersed in this spring was immediately healed from all illnesses, for when the Tzaddik gives a sermon, a spring bursts forth. This was the 18th of Sivan, 5656, and a new spring burst forth in the city of Baghdad, and anyone who drank from the spring was healed of all illnesses—cancers, paralysis. And anyone who immersed there was healed of all illnesses, of all skin diseases. Afterward, they conducted a scientific test on the spring and saw that this spring had a high percentage of mercury. And so this spring served all the days that the Ben Ish Chai was alive on the earth; the spring served the Jews in Baghdad. Even Arabs were there, because wherever the Tzaddik is found, there the "flowing brook, fountain of wisdom" bursts forth. And now we are standing before the 20th of Sivan. The 20th of Sivan is a fast day when over 600,000 Jews were killed, on the 20th of Sivan, because it is the day of the Geulah (Redemption) of the Jewish people. Now we are standing at the day of Geulah on the 20th of Sivan; it is a fast day, it is the day of the Geulah of the Jewish people, and the Jewish people stood and were directed toward Heaven in everything. Therefore, one must travel to the true Tzaddik who is called Ben Ish Chai, Ben Yehoyada Ben Ish Chai. That is why the Ben Ish Chai gave himself [these names]; the name became Ben Yehoyada. For whoever merits to prostrate himself on the grave of a Tzaddik like Benaiah ben Jehoiada will merit to live life forever, all 120 years. The issue is that people bring people to our holy and awesome Rebbe [Rebbe Nachman]. The Rebbe says, "I wish for myself to see the lights on the paths of the roads you travel on," because with every single step one takes, an angel is created—even when walking from carriage to carriage. One says 10 rubles, another says 8 rubles—even when walking from carriage to carriage, then from every single step [an angel is created]. According to the words of our Rebbe, every click on the computer, on the computer keys, on the computer buttons—with every click, an angel is created. There are, Baruch Hashem (thank G-d), 50 registrars here, and the plan now is that each one will bring two hundred; every registrar needs to bring 200. 50 times 200 is exactly ten thousand people. This is not difficult at all; every registrar and all of Shuvu Banim will harness themselves to this, to go throughout the entire land. From this day, the Rosh Hashanah [preparations] begin, and everyone will harness themselves to this throughout the land, from house to house, for this purpose alone: to sign people up. For everyone who travels to Uman will see salvations—women before childbirth, people who have not yet been blessed with children (nefkeidu), people with cancers and paralysis, all illnesses. There is no illness in the world that our Rebbe cannot heal. And this is the secret of the 18th of Sivan, when a spring burst forth for the Ben Ish Chai. He merited to be called "Ben Ish Chai," and a spring burst forth that was a healer. Everyone should read this: The Ben Ish Chai is a fountain of healings for all the illnesses in the world.
About two years ago, on the night of the 18th of Sivan, our teacher the Rav shlit"a added regarding the segulah (spiritual remedy) of this awesome day, the 18th of Sivan:
Today is the 18th of Sivan, when the earth split and a brook emerged, a spring of warm water. Today, Hashem splits all the mighty springs, splits the mighty springs from which living waters emerge that heal all illnesses. Anyone who drinks from the spring of the Tzaddik that burst forth from beneath the feet of the Tzaddik is healed from all illnesses! This day, the 18th of Sivan—this is a once-a-year opportunity to be healed from all illnesses, to be blessed with male children (lehipaked), and to find one's true shidduch (marriage match).
