The Gabbai Rabbi Natan Bezanson Reports from the Hospital Regarding the Condition of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – "The Doctor Told Me That No Human Being Could Endure the Suffering That Rabbi Berland shlit"a Is Going Through"

"We received results from the surgery that our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a underwent, and Baruch Hashem (Thank God), everything that the Rav had was removed, and no metastases remain from it," updates Rabbi Natan Bezanson, the attendant (shamash) of our teacher, the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. "Now they are examining our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a, and afterwards he will need to undergo further treatments."
"Our teacher Rabbi Berland is already 80 years old, and has undergone such hellish suffering, both now and throughout the last four years in which he has been persecuted. No mortal could withstand such suffering, but, Baruch Hashem, the Rav is strong, and 'the worm of Israel has no power except in its mouth' (meaning, the power of the Jewish people lies solely in prayer). The doctor told me that no human being could endure the suffering that Rabbi Berland shlit"a is going through."

The Rav truly went out of his way to write the letter to his community. The letter speaks about accepting humiliations with love, and the Rav wrote it until his strength was utterly exhausted. The Rav shlit"a writes there that whoever does not have the strength to withstand humiliations should simply leave Shuvu Banim. 'Shuvu Banim seeks out humiliations,' the Rav wrote in the letter, 'and on the contrary, let them go and increase even more.'"
"Because accepting humiliations does not mean saying the other person is wicked; only in this way [by accepting them] can one sweeten [the judgments]. Our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a is not willing to have any pashkevilim (polemic posters) or any responses against those who revile him, and this is the main thing occupying him even in moments like these."
