The Souls from Before the Creation of the World

These are his holy words:

Like the story in the Kol Bo [a book of halachah from the period of the Rishonim], that a ship with a thousand infants, a thousand women, and a thousand men arrived in Algeria, in Tunis, and they wanted them to disembark there.  This was after the Churban (the destruction of the Temple).  There’s no Temple.  They burned the Temple.  The Temple was already burned.  What do you do with the Temple when it’s burned?

Everyone fled.  The Romans said that whoever doesn’t kill will himself be killed (Gittin 55b).  It is written that whoever wouldn’t kill would be killed.  Learn there, that there was a decree, that whoever wouldn’t kill would himself be killed, so they had to kill all the Jews.

The Kol Bo says that they arrived in Algeria, in Tunis.  The local ruler came and asked, “Who are  you?”

“We are Jews.”

“Where did you come from?”

“From the Land of Israel.”

“Why?”

“Because they burned our Temple!”

“How can I know that you are Jews?”

They said, “What do you mean?  Behold, we are circumcised.”

“Circumcised?  Also Arabs are circumcised.  Half the world circumcised themselves.”  Fine, he says, “You know what?  Bring me one of you and we will throw him into the fire.  If I throw him into the fire and he isn’t burned, you can remain.  If he is burned, I will get rid of you.”

Fine, they fast thirty days.  Another thirty days!  What will be at the end of the thirty days?  Will they throw us into the fire?  Another time into the fire?!  Yehuda was thrown into the fire.  Avraham Avinu [was thrown] onto the fire.  Rabbi Akiva was scraped with combs of iron.  All the Ten Martyrs – learn Gemara, this is harder than the Ten Martyrs.  Only learning Gemara can save a person from the fiery furnace!

So, in any case, we return to the story of the Kol Bo.  They fast for thirty days, and every day, they relate their dreams.  In the meantime, they don’t find any allusion in their dreams.  On the last day, the thirtieth day, an hour before they are to be thrown into the fire, one of them says, “I had a dream and I don’t remember it.”

They tell him, “So tell what you dreamed.”

However, he was unlearned.  He said, “I dreamt: 2 “Ki,” 3 “Lo.”  “Ki” is a cow, which is to say two cows and three “Lo.”

Fine, there were tzaddikim from the community there who knew Bible from memory, Yeshayahu from memory.  They identified the verse: “When you pass through water, I am with you; through rivers, they will not wash you away; when (ki) you walk through fire, you will not (lo) be singed, and no flame will burn you” (Yeshayahu 43:2).

Yitzchak suffered so much.  Esav killed Nimrod.  You know what it is to kill Nimrod?  He killed Nimrod.  What did Nimrod ever do to him?

He said, “No, he threw my grandfather, Avraham, into a fiery furnace.”  Fine, Yitzchak saw that he killed Nimrod. He said that he’s a tzaddik.  He killed Nimrod.  But this isn’t correct, because Avraham died in order not to see this.  Avraham died five years before his time, because he wanted to return to them the Land of Israel.

What did Yosef say, “Behold, the sun, moon, and eleven stars are bowing down to me” (Bereishit 37:9).  What was Yosef’s intention?  Yosef intended that he could stop the sun!

Anyone who comes to Shuvu Banim needs to stop the sun!  If not, he cannot enter Shuvu Banim!

A PERSON NEEDS TO KNOW THAT IF HE BECOMES BRESLOV, IF HE BECOMES SHUVU BANIM, THAT THIS IS ONLY SOULS FROM BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD.  THE SOULS OF THE TZADDIK ARE SOULS FROM BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD.  THEY DON’T BELONG TO THIS WORLD AT ALL.  THESE ARE THE SOULS OF “BNEI KEDEM.”  THESE ARE NOT SOULS OF SMARTPHONES OR IPHONES.  YOU DON’T NEED THIS.  THERE IS THE GEMARA, WHICH IS FULL OF STORIES.  THE STORIES IN THE GEMARA ARE MORE INTERESTING THAN EVERYTHING ELSE, MORE THAN THRILLERS, MORE THAN ANYTHING.

SHUVU BANIM IS ONLY SOULS FROM BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD.
