Three Years Old for Scripture • Chalaka Ceremony for the Great-Grandson of the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

This week, the Chalaka (first haircut) ceremony took place with the participation of the Talmud Torah (boys' elementary school) children at the home of the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), for his great-grandson, the son of his grandson R' Nachman, the son of the Rav's son-in-law R' Meir David Isak shlit"a.
On Tuesday, the 22nd of Kislev, the "Ben Shalosh L'Mikra" (Three Years Old for Scripture) ceremony took place at the home of the Rav shlit"a with the entry of his great-grandson, the son of his grandson R' Nachman Isak, may Hashem protect and preserve him. The ceremony was held with the participation of the kindergarten children from the 'Nechamat Tzion' Talmud Torah (boys' elementary school).
The ceremony opened under the guidance of the dedicated children's teacher, Rabbi Burd, may Hashem protect and preserve him, who with great patience read the letters together with the Chatan HaMitzvah (the boy celebrating the milestone) as is customary, from a board smeared with honey to represent the sweetness of the Torah.
At the conclusion of the moving reading, all the participants broke out in joyful dancing in honor of the beginning of Torah study with immense joy. The Rav shlit"a himself recited a L'chaim (a toast to life) and blessed all the participants, including the rabbis of the Cheder (Torah school) and the directors of the institutions.
