"Through Those Near to Me I Will Be Sanctified" • Watch: The Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a Eulogizes Mrs. Singer a"h

A Communal Sacrifice: The Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in a Heartbreaking Eulogy for Leah Yocheved Singer a"h (may she rest in peace)
In a gathering saturated with tears and pain, Morinu (our teacher) the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a eulogized the wondrous figure of the pious Mrs. Singer z"l (of blessed memory), who was suddenly taken from us. In his words, the Rav connected her character to the Torah portion of "Bikrovai Ekadesh" (Through those near to Me I will be sanctified), describing her as a "machine of loving-kindness" the likes of which has not been seen since the creation of the world. The Rav emphasized that the deceased was like an angel in human form, who lived her entire life in complete nullification to Hashem, blessed be He, in the aspect of "only for Hashem alone." She dedicated every single moment to helping others and drawing hearts closer to Torah in pleasant ways, offering a loving embrace to every person.

During the eulogy, Morinu Rabbi Berland shlit"a revealed awesome secrets, stating that the passing of this tzaddekes (righteous woman) was intended to nullify harsh decrees from upon the Jewish people and to stop the cursed war. Just as Queen Esther nullified the decree in her days, so too Mrs. Singer a"h, who ascended to the Heavenly heights precisely during the days of Chesed (loving-kindness) of Sefiras HaOmer, ascended to the Throne of Glory to sweeten the judgments and stop the sirens and the madness that had gripped the nation. The Rav shlit"a testified to her personal self-sacrifice and the miracles she brought about in the hospital, where everyone stood astonished in the face of her spiritual strength and the nobility of her soul.
Morinu Rabbi Berland shlit"a concluded his words with a call to each and every one of us to take part in the tikkun (rectification) and to strengthen ourselves in Shmiras HaLashon (guarding our speech), as a rectification for our share in this terrible tragedy. "Everyone must examine themselves and learn from her character traits," the Rav awakened the public, with the anticipation that in the merit of her pure sacrifice, we will speedily merit the building of the Holy Temple and the coming of Mashiach Tzidkeinu (our righteous Redeemer).
