To Sustain Among Us the Sages of Israel • Update on the Medical Condition of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Since Sunday, the 30th of Adar I, Rosh Chodesh Adar II, Parshas Pekudei. Our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, was hospitalized due to his medical condition. Below is an update on his medical condition from his grandson and gabbai (attendant), R' Naftali Zucker, may Hashem protect and sustain him:

ִSince Wednesday of Parshas Vayakhel, the Rav shlit"a began to limp. In his holy way, the Rav does not complain, but the dedicated gabbaim (attendants) noticed his limping. In response to their questions, the Rav replied that he was suffering from pain in his leg. Of course, we tried to ask him to go to the hospital, but the Rav, in his self-sacrifice (mesirus nefesh) for the public, decided to postpone and endure his pain until after the Shabbos. Anyone who stood near the Rav's podium on Shabbos could see that he sat during Seudah Shlishis (the third meal) longer than usual, and even in his ascent and descent of the stairs, he exerted great effort. One could see on his face the many sufferings he was undergoing with self-sacrifice (mesirus nefesh), the main thing being to stay with the public on the Holy Shabbos. Naturally, on Sunday, our teacher the Rav shlit"a turned for medical treatment at the hospital and has been there since under medical supervision. Additionally, since then, a certain swelling began in his hand, and therefore the doctors took care to perform additional tests to rule out serious cases. Currently, the Rav shlit"a is being treated, and his condition is improving, and we hope that as early as tomorrow he will be released back to his home, his holy dwelling (naveh kodesh). It should be noted that despite his many sufferings, the Rav shlit"a does not stop learning. From the beginning of his stay in the hospital, he requested that a small Shas (Talmud) and Rambam (Maimonides' code of law) be brought to him. Likewise, today he requested several volumes of Chazon Ish and Shulchan Aruch (Code of Jewish Law). The Rav shlit"a is diligent in his Torah study and thereby protects the world.

Regarding the Maariv (evening) prayer tomorrow (Wednesday) and for any further updates, you can stay updated on the Breslov Chassidim information line *9148

Our fellow followers (Anshei Shelomeinu) from all over the country are called upon to offer prayers and supplications, to increase in the recitation of the Tikkun HaKlali (The General Rectification) for the complete healing (refuah sheleimah) of our teacher, the Rav, Eliezer ben Ettia Berland shlit"a among all the sick of Israel. Every day, a prayer gathering takes place in our Beis Medrash (study hall) after the Maariv prayer, as well as at the tomb of Binyamin ben Yaakov on Strauss Street.

And behold, the Almighty God will not despise the prayer of the many!
