"WE NEED AGUDAT YISRAEL TO WIN AND THEN THE CITY WILL BE CHAREDI!" • The Daily Lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

With about an hour left until the polls close, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a issues a final cry from the depths of his heart—to go and vote for the Agudat Yisrael party - 'Gimmel' - for the sake of saving the Holy City of Jerusalem. Before you is the full daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a—today, after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Tuesday, Parshas Ki Tisa, the night of the 19th of Adar I:
"Only fifty percent have voted, less than fifty percent. Most of Shuvu Banim still haven't voted; all the sons and daughters must go now. In two hours the polls close, we need Aguda (Agudat Yisrael) to win and then the city will be Charedi (ultra-Orthodox). One who does not vote is like one who eats pork on Yom Kippur; he is essentially saying that he is voting for the secularists, for non-kosher shops, and for parades of abomination. A person must know that today the war is with the ballot slips; this isn't just elections, it has nothing to do with elections—this is the War of Amalek (the archetypal enemy of the Jewish people)! Joshua went to wipe out Amalek, so all his cities became holy through the mitzvah (commandment) of Purim—Purim is greater than Yom Kippur. In thirty days, everyone will need to fulfill the mitzvahs of Purim, to read the Megillah (Scroll of Esther) on the 15th [of Adar], all because Joshua bin Nun fought against Amalek. Rebbe Noson explains in Hilchos Eruvei Techumin 4: that because he fought Amalek, all the cities became sanctified; all the cities he conquered became holy for all eternity, even for the Resurrection of the Dead. A person must know that the War of Amalek today is not in the DNA; it is only through the ballot slips. Today, Amalek is the Likud, Amalek is all the secularists—that is Amalek. They all want to uproot the religion; they all want to uproot the Torah. And we are the only ones left! It is written in Chesed L'Avraham that seven thousand people will remain who will not bow to the Baal (idol), who will keep the Shabbos (Sabbath). We want people to keep Shabbos, that there should be no cars on Shabbos. That the city should be completely closed hermetically, like Bnei Brak is closed hermetically. This will only happen if everyone goes at this very moment, this very minute, within five minutes, to vote 'Gimmel' (the ballot for Agudat Yisrael).".
