What Happens to One Who Does Not Come to Help the Tzaddik? • The Daily Lesson from Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Before you is a summary of the topics from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days) - yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Monday night, the 27th of MarCheshvan 5786, Parshas Toldos:

1. Yaakov (Jacob) changed his clothes, representing the changing of the World of Asiyah (the world of action and physicality). 2. "Upon Edom I will cast my shoe" (Psalms 60:10) – this refers to the heel of Esav (Esau). 3. The main thing is the heels, the secret of the breaking of the Tablets (of the Ten Commandments) which Eliezer saw upon Rivka (Rebecca), and therefore he gave her the bracelets. Furthermore, Eliezer saw Esav (the Hebrew initials of "and her pitcher was on her shoulder" [V'chada Al Shichma] contain the letters of Esav). 4. The main thing is Zevulun, who is in the level of Keter (the Crown, the highest Sefirah) because he follows the Tzaddik (righteous leader) without hesitation (literally: without a heart, meaning without over-calculating). 5. Devorah (Deborah) was a prophetess, a woman greater than the son. The women would fly in the air. 6. One who recites the Tikkun HaKlali (The General Rectification) merits that all of his children will be present at all the prayers with the Rav (Rabbi Berland). 7. Devorah said, "Has Hashem not commanded?" (Judges 4:6). Did Hashem actually command? Rather, she knew that if she didn't tell them to perform pri'ah (the uncovering of the covenant/leadership) in the name of Hashem, they wouldn't do it. No tribe came to help Devorah except for the tribe of Zevulun. "A people that jeopardized its life to the point of death" (Judges 5:18) – anyone who does not come to help the Tzaddik is called "cursed." 8. All wisdoms can be learned in a single second. 9. Now, at the end of the month of Cheshvan, the Beis HaMikdash (Holy Temple) of fire needs to descend. 10. The month of Bul (another name for Cheshvan) is when mabbulim (floods) descend upon the whole world because they said the Jews are murderers. 11. The tribe of Binyamin (Benjamin) received stones, and therefore they merited the splitting of the Yam Suf (Red Sea). If a person has Emunah (faith) in the Tzaddik, he merits the splitting of the Yam Suf.
