A Lesson for the Musicians at the Hillula of the Rashbi, Lag BaOmer 5784

On Wednesday, the 28th of Iyar, a lesson was held at the home of our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), for the members of the choir and orchestra who merited to sing and play at the Hillula (celebration of passing) of the Divine Tanna (Mishnaic sage), Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, on Lag BaOmer, during the central lighting ceremony of the Shuvu Banim community.

As published here in the extensive coverage of Lag BaOmer this year, due to financial difficulties, an orchestra was not organized by the Hillula production. Because of this, the important avreich (young married Torah scholar), R' Israel Ben Baruch, manager of the BAB production company, took the initiative to produce the orchestra this year in honor of the Divine Tanna, with all the musicians and the choir arriving on a completely volunteer basis.

"And these shall stand for the blessing"—the names of the musicians who merited to gladden the crowd of tens of thousands who participated in the central lighting ceremony by the Shuvu Banim community, with the participation of our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, which took place on the night of the Hillula across Shivtei Israel and HaChoma HaShlishit streets: The singer, the young man Yosef Ernesti, together with the child prodigy Nuti Stern, accompanied by the special Shuvu Banim choir conducted by the young man Naftali Ernesti. Choir members: R' Shmuel Isaac Zucker, R' Yaakov Yona, R' Yehuda Yechezkeli, R' Natan Mandelowitz, R' Natan Erol, R' David Rottenberg, the young man Naftali Tuito, the young man Aharon Gol, the young man Naftali Reicher. On the keyboards was R' Natan Gudes, accompanied by the soulful clarinetists R' Nachman son of R' Eliyahu Gabbai, and the young man Nachman Sharabi. On the saxophone was R' Natan Raz, on the guitar the young man Chaim Shapira, on the violin the young man Natan Kalov. Behind the scenes, managing logistics and sound, was R' Shimon Arush, may Hashem protect him and grant him life. Overseeing all this with professional production was R' Israel Ben Baruch, may Hashem protect him and grant him life, who took upon himself this great initiative in honor of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai zy"a (may his merit protect us).
