How Did Moshe Rabbeinu Merit to the Blessing of “A Thousand Times”?

These are his holy words:

Eliezer, Avraham’s servant, was a true Tzaddik.  We learn from the verse, “with a jug on her shoulder” (Bereishit 24:45), that he saw Esav, because Rivka had to subdue Esav.

Because the name “Rivka” is written nine times in connection with the word “jug.”  If you do the calculation, then a hundred times two – they taught me that a hundred times two equals 200.  But this isn’t correct.  Only in Shuvu Banim do they teach it that way.  Rashi says “this much and this much again (כהנה וכהנה)” (II Shmuel 12:8) -- a hundred times.  Rashi says that this is not like we said, a hundred times two, rather, 2 and 4 up to a hundred times, and each time double – 8, 16, 32, 64… a hundred times, [and this] comes out as a thousand billion trillion.  Moshe’s blessing is a thousand times, and he merited it through distributing cans of drink.  Rashi says in Sanhedrin that he would distribute things precisely [according to the needs of the recipient].

If a person distributes popsicles to children on Shabbat, he merits for his blessings to be a thousand billion trillion times, which is a billion trillion more than Moshe Rabbeinu – this is the secret of Rivka’s jug.

Therefore, Rivka’s candle never went out – Rivka’s light never goes out.  Likewise, with Sarah, her candle never went out.  “Yitzchak was comforted after his mother” (Bereishit 24:67) – because her candle didn’t go out.

Esav saw that the candle did not go out.  In honor of Shabbat, she would extinguish it and light it anew.  Esav grew up with Rivka and saw that his mother’s candle didn’t go out – do teshuva!

You grew up with Yitzchak and Rivka and the candle never went out, but it made no difference [to you].
