The Joy of the Tannaim (engagement ceremony) for the Great-Granddaughter of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a of the Reicher (Zucker) Family to the Levy Family of Bnei Brak

Last Sunday, after the Maariv (evening) prayer, the Tannaim (engagement ceremony) celebration for the great-granddaughter of our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, took place in his home. She is the daughter of Rabbi Chaim Reicher shlit"a of the Zucker family, and the groom is the excellent student Avraham Alter Chaim, son of Rabbi David Levy shlit"a, one of the prominent Spinka Chassidim in Bnei Brak.

During the Tannaim celebration, our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, delivered a lesson in which he spoke about Parshas Va'era, explaining that the frogs merited to practice mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice). He said that all the mitzvos (commandments) a person performs are acts of mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice). He also cited the holy book 'Degel Machaneh Ephraim,' stating that the chuppah (wedding canopy) is like Yom Kippur, and the period between the erusin (betrothal) and the wedding is like the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah (Ten Days of Repentance).
