The Task of Shuvu Banim is to Bring Back in Teshuva All Those Who Have Fallen

FOLLOWING THE DESTRUCTION OF THE “MINIATURE TEMPLE” AND AWFUL DESECRATION OF HASHEM’S NAME, IN ADDITION TO THE ONGOING HARASSMENT OF THE SHUVU BANIM COMMUNITY BY THE JERUSALEM MUNICIPALITY – A COMMUNITY THAT FOR NEARLY FOUR YEARS HAS PRAYED EVERY DAY AND EVERY SHABBAT UNDER THE OPEN SKY, WITHOUT A PERMANENT STRUCTURE WORTHY OF IT BY RIGHT AND NOT BY FAVOR – THOUSANDS OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS, TOGETHER WITH THE COMMUNITY’S RABBIS AND LED BY MOREINU HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT”A, WENT OUT TO PROTEST THE DESECRATION OF HASHEM’S NAME, THE DESECRATION OF THE MINIATURE TEMPLE, AND THE TRAMPLING OF HOLINESS.

THE HOLY WORDS OF MOREINU, THE GAON AND TZADDIK, HARAV ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT”A FROM THE PRAYER RALLY OVER THE DESTRUCTION OF THE PRAYER TENT AND BEIT MIDRASH – “V’SHAVU BANIM LIGVULAM – AND THE CHILDREN SHALL RETURN TO THEIR BORDERS” – THIS IS LITERAL, TO RETURN ALL THE CHILDREN TO THEIR BORDERS; THIS IS THE GOAL OF SHUVU BANIM”

THE RAV [MOREINU HARAV SHLIT”A] BLESSES THE MAYOR WITH ALL THE BLESSINGS.  WE HAVE COME TO BLESS THE MAYOR, TO WISH HIM TO BECOME PRIME MINISTER, TO CONTINUE THE PATH OF SHUVU BANIM.

Today everyone is saying, “V’Shavu Banim LiGvulam” (Yirmiyahu 31:16) – all the newspapers, all the posters are saying, “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for there is reward for your labor… and the children shall return to their borders” (ibid 31:15).

The entire purpose of Shuvu Banim is only to bring all Am Yisrael back in teshuva – this is the only goal.  Today there are 500,000 people who have fallen away [from mitzvah observance – called “noshrim” in Hebrew].  Every day there are a thousand new people who fall away.  The task of Shuvu Banim is to bring back in teshuva all those who have fallen away, to build here a 25-story building.  It is possible to give us the municipality building and we will build here for the municipality another building in its place.

WE WANT TO BRING BACK IN TESHUVA HERE 500,000.  THERE ARE 100,000 IN JERUSALEM.  “AND THE CHILDREN SHALL RETURN” – THIS IS LITERAL, TO RETURN ALL THE CHILDREN TO THEIR BORDERS; THIS IS THE GOAL OF SHUVU BANIM.

We are the legacy of Gandhi [Rechavam Ze’evi, who was a major general in the IDF and Minister of Tourism, one of the leaders of the Israeli right and champion of Greater Israel.  He supported encouraging voluntary Arab emigration to outside Israel’s borders and promoted this view publicly and in the Knesset].  The complex in Meron [where Shuvu Banim would light] is Gandhi’s complex.  Gandhi was a regular guest in my home.  In the merit of this, he became Minister of Tourism – he should have been prime minister.

WHAT GANDHI SAID FIFTY YEARS AGO – TO ERASE GAZA AND TURN IT INTO A SANDBOX – NOW EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THAT GANDHI WAS RIGHT.  WE HAVE COME TO CONTINUE GANDHI’S TRUE LEGACY.  HIS SON WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST OFFICERS IN THE YOM KIPPUR WAR.  50% OF SHUVU BANIM WERE THE GREATEST OFFICERS IN THE ARMY.  90% OF SHUVU BANIM WERE IN THE ARMY.  SHUVU BANIM DOESN’T HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST THE ARMY.

Now they took David Zini, who wears a kippah, to serve as the head of the Shin Bet.  We also want a Chief of Staff with a kippah – then three soldiers won’t have to die every day.  Just on Thursday, five soldiers were killed from our own grenade.  Soldiers walk with four grenades on their belt – I don’t understand how they don’t explode.  I can’t comprehend it today.  Friends in the Lebanon War – one jumped on a grenade and saved 25 people.  Also in one mobile shelter, one jumped on a grenade.  This is all because they don’t keep Shabbat, and everyone wants to keep Shabbat.

Now there is Agam Berger and her mother Merav.  Agam began keeping Shabbat in the tunnels.  She was required to cook on Shabbat in captivity, but she refused and was brutally beaten for it.  People are returning in teshuva.  All the hostages are returning in teshuva.  All the hostages keep Shabbat.  We hope that it will continue onwards.

THEREFORE, ONE MUST COME TO SHUVU BANIM.  THIS IS THE GOAL OF SHUVU BANIM: THEY ONLY DEAL WITH THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN AWAY.
