"Every Woman is a Spark of Eliyahu HaNavi!" • The Daily Lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Presented before you is the full daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a—yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Tuesday, Parshas Tetzaveh, the night of the 12th of Adar I:

"So, Aharon HaKohen (the High Priest) had to practice mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice) and jump into the fire, just like Avraham Avinu (our forefather Abraham) who jumped into the fire. Avraham Avinu was very upset that he wasn't burned; he said, 'Why wasn't I burned? What is my sin? What is my transgression?' Just as Yaakov Avinu (our forefather Jacob) asked Lavan; 'What is my sin and what is my transgression that you have hotly pursued me?' You didn't even find a needle! So why are you chasing me? He was looking for a needle; they would have brought him a needle. Regarding Shabbos, there is a question if it's a pointed needle or a non-pointed one. A woman is permitted to go out [on Shabbos] with a pointed needle but forbidden with a non-pointed one. So he searched for a needle; he searched for a needle with Yaakov. He went into Rachel's tent, Leah's tent, and the tents of the handmaids—Bilhah and Zilpah. Because the brothers said he deserved the entire inheritance; the brothers were actually right. How many are we—eight brothers, not twelve. Yosef (Joseph) argued with them: 'And he was a youth with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah.' He said we are twelve. [The brothers said to him]: 'What do you mean twelve? We are only eight.' This is a major nafkuh minah (halachic difference). Because if Yaakov 'and the man increased exceedingly' had a million sheep—a million goats, a million cows—then he had 1.2 billion. Now he passed away at the age of 127, leaving an inheritance of 1.2 billion. Yosef said we are twelve brothers, so each will receive 100 million. 100 million is a little, it's not enough, you can barely buy two pizzas with that... But the brothers said: 'We are only eight, what do you mean 100 million each? What nonsense is this?! We'll buy a pizza and a half... how much can we buy with this... we deserve 150 million.' If you divide 1.2 billion by eight. They say that Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher were not in the brothers' calculation. So they receive 150 million, you can even buy three pizzas with that... so at the Melaveh Malkah (post-Shabbos meal) they will distribute three pizzas to each... so the brothers were right. You can't give up 50 million, that's not right, another pizza is a lot. Especially at Melaveh Malkah, and you can bring shawarma and have a little mangal (barbecue). Independence Day is the day of the mangal, you can do a little mangal. There's another 150 million, let's do a mangal. Yosef said no. Because Rabbi Meir says in Gittin (page 40) that if a man writes a document of kiddushin (betrothal) for his maidservant—they had the status of maidservants, they were Lavan's daughters, but maidservants. A document of kiddushin is also a document of shichrur (liberation/freedom). So the Gemara corrects that he needs to tell her 'go out with this,' fine, but one document is enough. You don't need two documents; who invented two documents? Why two documents? Who has two documents? One document 'go out with it' and that's it. Yosef said, 'What do you want from our father? Our father is the most kosher person in the world; he wrote a document of kiddushin, so it is also a document of liberation.' Because Lavan wrote to Yaakov, 'You shall not liberate Bilhah and Zilpah.' Because that was the custom; everyone had two wives—one was a concubine, one was a real wife, a lady, a queen, a princess, sitting on a throne all day putting on makeup. And the sons of the concubine must serve the sons of the lady. So Lavan wrote in the kesubah (marriage contract): 'I am giving Zilpah to Leah, and she shall be an eternal maidservant. And I am giving Bilhah to Rachel, and she shall be an eternal maidservant. And you have no permission to liberate them,' because [if they are liberated], who will serve Rachel? Will Rachel do the sponja (mopping) now? Will she start cooking? Will she make pizzas? Let Bilhah make the pizzas. And what about Leah, will she make falafel? Let her make the falafel—Zilpah. And Zilpah was short, she was small, she was a twelve-year-old girl, and so Yaakov thought he would marry Rachel and Leah. Because Zilpah was tiny, teeny, short. But he took her, it doesn't matter. Yaakov didn't look; they switched the bride on him at the wedding—at the chuppah (wedding canopy)—and Yaakov never opened his eyes; Yaakov never looked at what they were giving him. Like Merav [daughter of Saul] who was the gematria (numerical value) of Mashiach ben David and Mashiach ben Yosef (with the kolel). Because the woman is the Or HaGanuz (Hidden Light); the daughters of Shaul (Saul) were the Or HaGanuz. Shaul himself was the Or HaGanuz—'from his shoulders and upward,' 'a year old... in his reign'—he knew nothing, they never saw his feet, they didn't see this... he broke his Xiaomi (smartphone). Every girl needs to break her Xiaomi, and then there will be a pillar of fire over her, like Devorah HaNeviah (Deborah the Prophetess) who broke her Xiaomi, so there was a pillar of fire over her. She was surrounded by fire! By torches of fire! She was called 'Eishes Lapidos' (Woman of Torches). Every girl who breaks her Xiaomi will be surrounded by torches of fire. She will be a prophetess! Like Serach bas Asher, she was a prophetess! Because anyone who said Yosef was alive would have died on the spot! Within a second, he would be dead! She [Serach bas Asher] said, 'I say Yosef is alive, let me die!' Why have they been torturing the father for twenty-two years with such suffering? He sits on the ground, crying, the Shechinah (Divine Presence) departed from him, he saw nothing. He didn't see from one end of the world to the other; he didn't see a millimeter, he didn't see a meter! And Serach said, 'I see everything that is happening; I see that he has already become a king.' She said, 'I will tell my grandfather.' But [they said], 'You will die on the spot, they will kill you, there are Nazis, there are Hamasniks, they will kill you on the spot, woe to you if you reveal this.' She said: 'I don't care! Let them kill me, let them slaughter me! There will be rivers of blood, it doesn't matter! I must tell my grandfather so he will rise from the ground, that they already found Yosef, that he is king in Egypt, that he has two sons—Menashe and Ephraim.' So Serach bas Asher was from the Or HaGanuz (Hidden Light). Every woman is from the Or HaGanuz; every woman's soul is the Or HaGanuz. Therefore, 'Nashim' (women) is the gematria (numerical value) of Eliyahu HaNavi (Elijah the Prophet), for every woman is a spark of Eliyahu HaNavi; every woman has a revelation of Eliyahu. Like Devorah HaNeviah who had a revelation of Eliyahu, like Yael who had a revelation of Eliyahu. Therefore, the Song of Devorah is greater than the Song of the Sea (Shiras HaYam)! The Zohar writes on page 19b that the Song of Devorah and the Prayer of Chanah are greater than the Song of the Sea. Because at the Song of the Sea, there were Clouds of Glory, and there were catapult stones—each stone weighing three tons—and the clouds threw them back. Like Bar Kochba, of whom it is written in Gittin 56, that he would deflect the stones—each stone three tons—deflecting them back at the Romans, and the Romans were 'innocent' and 'uninvolved,' yet tens of thousands of people were killed there every day. Like now in Gaza, twenty-five thousand Muslims were killed, and Jewish Knesset members wrote to The Hague that they are abusing the Hamasniks, killing without end. Lapid, Gantz, and Eisenkot said, 'Correct, they are being abused.' The Jews... now one of the Knesset members complained in The Hague, so they wanted to kick him out. Then [the Knesset members who didn't support the proposal to impeach Ofer Cassif] said, 'No, no, no.' It turns out Lapid is a Hamasnik, Eisenkot is a Hamasnik, Gantz is a Hamasnik. Everyone, thank Hashem, identifies; everyone, thank Hashem, is waiting for the war to end already. It will never end, because Biden doesn't allow wars to be made anymore; he says, 'Enough, stop already.' 'Innocent' people, 'minority' people. But all of this only depends on a girl wearing a long skirt, down to the ankle; at that moment the war will end. Every girl will break her Xiaomi, her smartphone, the war will end, and there will be the complete Geulah (Redemption) speedily in our days, Amen!"
