"FROM THE AGE OF 17 HE WOULD CRY AWESOME CRIES EVERY SINGLE NIGHT AT CHATZOS AT THE KOTEL" • A Prayer from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a for the Yahrtzeit of the Tzaddik Rabbi Hirsh Leipel zt"l

Today, the 23rd of MarCheshvan, marks the yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing) of Rabbi Hirsh Leipel zt"l (of blessed memory), one of the greatest servants of Hashem in Breslov in the last generation. Below is a prayer written by the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days) regarding his awesome greatness, written on the eve of his hilula (anniversary of passing) 5785:

Master of the World, Almighty, from whom no purpose can be withheld, merit us on the holy and awesome yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing) of Hirsh Leib zt"l (of blessed memory), to walk in all his ways—that he never missed Chatzos (midnight prayer) from the age of 17 until the day of his death. He would cry awesome cries every single night at Chatzos at the Kotel (Western Wall), and he never once in his life missed going to the Kotel at Chatzos Layla (midnight) and crying there awesome cries. Specifically, he would say every single night the piyut (liturgical poem) of 'Hineni He-Ani MiMa'as' (Behold, I am poor in deeds) that is said before Musaf of Rosh Hashanah. I would stand near him every single night at Chatzos at the Kotel and hear his awesome cries. May it be Your will that his soul should be impregnated (ibbur - spiritual attachment) within us in the blink of an eye, already at this moment and this second, and may we merit to say the entire Tikkun Chatzos (Midnight Lamentations) with awesome cries like Hirsh Leib zt"l. "Turn the face of G-d from the peak of Amana, an eye looks toward You from the beginning of the year, and the five portions are yours for a portion, so my Beloved is blessed among the sons."
