"If a person cries out, Hashem hears!" • The Daily Lesson from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Before you is a summary from the daily lesson as delivered by our teacher, the Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a – yesterday after the Maariv (evening) prayer, Thursday night, the 30th of Shevat, the first day of Rosh Chodesh Adar, Parshas Terumah:
It is written, "And it shall come to pass, when he cries out to Me, I will hear" (Exodus 22:26). If a person cries out, Hashem hears. "And your wives shall be widows" (Exodus 22:23) – if the wife does not protect her husband, then the wife remains a widow. Rashi says in Parshas Pinchas regarding the verse "But among these there was not a man" (Numbers 26:64) that not a single woman died [in the desert]; they did not agree to contribute jewelry to the Golden Calf. But this wasn't because they were stingy, because for the Mishkan (Tabernacle) they gave mountains of gold. The woman always rises before the man. Therefore, we see there are crises in homes, because the woman wakes up early and the man wakes up late. A woman has a million times more intellect than a man, because the wisdom of the woman comes from the wisdom of "Ban" (a Kabbalistic name of Hashem associated with the feminine), while the wisdom of the man comes from Binah (understanding). The man [sometimes] puts all his money at risk, sells his house, and becomes a total zero. The woman needs to give the man a "club to the head" (figuratively) so he doesn't put all the money into gambling. For the men went out to dance with the Calf, and with every rotation they gave the Calf a kiss; whoever gave a kiss, his lips turned to gold. Whoever [merely] thought [about it] died in the plague, and for those whom Hashem desired to purify, He created a giant stream where the Calf could be ground up [and the gold dust drunk]. Korach said to Moshe: You heard that "Moshe dies and Yehoshua (Joshua) brings them in," so you decided they should remain in the desert for forty years—"Will you gouge out the eyes of those men?" (Numbers 16:14). And either way (mi-mah nafshach): if you knew the Meraglim (spies) would sin, why did you send them? And if you knew, then what are you doing here? So there remained with Moshe: Eliezer and Gershom, Aharon, Elazar, Itamar, and Miriam. And he brought down the souls of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov—he had a minyan (quorum of ten), and thus he subdued Korach. The Meraglim (spies) were tzaddikim; they wanted to enter the Kodesh HaKodashim (Holy of Holies). In another two hours, at Chatzos (midnight), the girls will finish the entire Tehillim (Psalms), Ezra, Nehemiah, and Megillas Esther. Regarding the argument between Achashverosh (Ahasuerus) and Vashti—how many steps Nebuchadnezzar took, and in whose merit the kingdom ruled over 127 provinces. For Achashverosh would wash sixty thousand horses a month, and he was the son of Darius. What the wife says is the Kodesh HaKodashim (Holy of Holies). A man fights with his wife about the trash can all night; a person must listen to his wife's voice. Everyone needs to study Likutey Halachos with his wife, specifically about Esther HaMalka (Queen Esther). And also study why the Meraglim (spies) were afraid to enter the Land. It is forbidden to live outside the Land of Israel for even one second; all the illnesses are there. There was one Jew who was unwilling to return to the Land because he wanted to be with his Rebbe for the holidays; in the end, the war broke out and, unfortunately, he perished there. Everyone needs to study with his wife about Haman, who was unwilling to wait until morning. He cried out, "Save me from the klipah (impure shell) of Haman-Amalek..." Achashverosh said, "Let him come up, I will take him out of the klipah." Haman wanted it to be only one day, but we make it seven days—from the 11th of Adar until the 16th, and when we extend the seudah (festive meal) until after Mincha, then it is already the night of the 17th; that makes seven days.
