Prayer for the Molad of Elul 5785 from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Prayer for the Molad (New Moon) of Elul

The Sign of Betulah (Virgo)

The Molad will be on Saturday night at 12:05 AM, 6 chalakim (parts of a minute).

Master of the World, Almighty One, from Whom no purpose can be withheld,

As I reach the Molad of Elul—the sign of Betulah (Virgo)—merit me to [fulfill the secret of] the verse, "And if the woman will not be willing to follow you,"

so that through this, there shall be a will within a woman to follow after her husband.

The acronym of Elul is found in the words "V'toveh Ha'ishah" (and the woman will be willing)—that there should be a will in the woman to leave her mother's house and her brothers and to follow after her husband with a whole heart.

For in the month of Elul, all iniquities are forgiven, from the sin of Adam HaRishon (the first man) until our days, even through a hundred gilgulim (reincarnations)—from Rabbi Akiva, who was a spark of Zimri,

and if he [the soul] would have come to all the shiurim (Torah lessons) of Rabbi Eliezer, all his iniquities would have been forgiven, even from the sin of Adam HaRishon until our days and until this reincarnation.

And through this, all the klippos (husks of impurity) that were created from the sin of Adam HaRishon until our days, through 100 gilgulim (reincarnations), are subdued.

And may we merit, through the sign of Betulah (Virgo), that all iniquities be wiped away, as we read on Tisha B'Av (the fast of the ninth of Av): "Your iniquity is completed, O daughter of Zion; He will no longer exile you," [as opposed to] "He has remembered your iniquity, O daughter of Zion, to continue your exile,"

"He has remembered your iniquity, O daughter of Edom; He has uncovered your sins."
