Prayer for The Tikkun HaKlali

Prayer Before Reciting the Ten Psalms of The Tikkun HaKlali

Master

of the Universe, Almighty One, I come before You with supplication and request, with knocking knees, and my entire body trembling, as I come, Hashem, to read the ten chapters revealed by Rebbe Nachman, son of Simcha, son of Feiga, the genius and the Tzaddik Yesod Olam (Tzaddik who is the foundation of the world). For with these Psalms You founded heaven and earth, as they are emanated from the supernal kisses of Abba and Imma (the Divine partzufim of wisdom and understanding), from the unceasing unification. You devise thoughts so that no one is ever banished from You, and every single day You send new thoughts of teshuvah (repentance). Therefore, You established these ten Psalms so that we can return to You in truth, and truly see You face to face, as it is said, "When shall I come and appear before God?" Please, Hashem, 'Who watches the wicked and desires his justification,' have pity and compassion on my miserable soul. Have pity, favor me, and save me from the blemishes of the Covenant (sexual impurity). "Rescue me from the mire, let me not sink; let me be rescued from my enemies and from the deep waters. Let not the floodwaters sweep over me, nor the deep swallow me up, nor the pit close its mouth over me." For this is why You revealed to our holy and awesome Rebbe these ten chapters, to save Your people Israel from the blemishes of the Covenant, from the strong, harsh, and bitter sword of the Angel of Death, which has two edges, and from the bitter and terrible drop that drips from the harsh and bitter sword of the Angel of Death. For there is no blemish more terrible in the world than one who blemishes his Covenant, Heaven forbid, who is led through Gehenna, while they all scream with terrible voices, "Give, give!" Save me from their harsh terror, save me from the angels of destruction who are more cruel than snakes and scorpions. Save me from their judgment which is bitter with ultimate bitterness, save me from bitter waters, from defiling waters. Have pity and mercy, have pity and compassion on me from their harsh and terrible judgment. Therefore, You emanated and brought down these ten awesome chapters, to be saved from all the harsh and bitter judgments, and to do true teshuvah in their merit. May I never again blemish my Covenant forever, and may I achieve a higher, true teshuvah in the blink of an eye. May I merit, in the merit of the ten Psalms, a true and complete teshuvah, never to repeat my disgraceful deeds, Heaven forbid. May I not return to folly, and may I not return to my disgraceful deeds. May I merit to sanctify myself in holiness and purity, and to reach, in the merit of the ten Psalms, a holiness that has never yet existed, and may I merit to constantly add holiness upon holiness. In the merit of these ten Psalms, may I merit to refill anew all the awesome Divine Names that I have blemished. Please, Hashem, in the merit of these ten Psalms, be with me always. Stand at my right hand and support me, and forgive, pardon, and absolve me for everything, 'like the eyes of a servant to his master, like the eyes of a maidservant to her mistress.' From today on, be with me always, in a way that I will be able to rectify all that I have corrupted and all that I have blemished. In the merit of the ten Psalms, may I ascend to the Supernal World without any blemish or deficiency. May I merit, in the merit of the ten Psalms, to rectify all my sins and transgressions with the ultimate perfection, beyond which there is no perfection, 'and they shall not be remembered nor come to mind forever.' "And You will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea," and they will never come to mind forever. For "To You, Hashem, I call, and to my Lord I make supplication." "I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my distress before Him." "What profit is there in my blood, in my going down to the pit? Will the dust thank You? Will it declare Your truth?" And may I do complete teshuvah for all my sins and transgressions, and may they never come to mind forever.

Behold

I bind myself, through the recitation of these ten Psalms, to all the true tzaddikim of our generation, and to all the true tzaddikim who dwell in the dust, the holy ones who are in the earth, and especially to the true and holy tzaddik, the Tzaddik Yesod Olam, the Flowing Brook, the Source of Wisdom, Joy, and Emunah (Faith), Rebbe Nachman son of Simcha son of Feiga. May his merit protect us and all of Israel, Amen.

Come

let us sing joyously to Hashem, let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation. Let us greet Him with thanksgiving, with songs of praise let us shout for joy to Him. For Hashem is a great God, and a great King above all heavenly powers.

Behold

I prepare my mouth to thank, praise, and glorify my Creator, for the sake of the unification of the Holy One, Blessed be He, and His Shechinah (Divine Presence), in awe and love, through the Hidden and Concealed One, in the name of all Israel:

6 16 5

Michtam of David. Guard me, O God, for I have taken refuge in You.

I said to Hashem, "You are my Lord; my goodness is not obligatory upon You."

As for the holy ones who are in the earth, they are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.

May the sorrows of those who hasten after another [god] multiply; I will not pour their libations of blood, nor will I take their names upon my lips.

Hashem is my allotted portion and my cup; You guide my destiny.

Portions have fallen to me in pleasant places; indeed, a beautiful inheritance is mine.

I will bless Hashem Who has counseled me; even at night my intellect instructs me.

I have set Hashem before me always; because He is at my right hand, I shall not falter.

Therefore my heart rejoices and my soul is glad; my flesh, too, will dwell in safety.

For You will not abandon my soul to the grave; You will not allow Your pious one to see the pit.

You will make known to me the path of life; the fullness of joys is in Your presence, pleasantness is at Your right hand forever.

6 32 5

Of David, a Maskil. Fortunate is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Fortunate is the man to whom Hashem does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my anguished roaring all day long.

For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my sap was turned into the droughts of summer, Selah.

I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to Hashem," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin, Selah.

For this let every pious one pray to You at a time when You may be found; surely, the flood of great waters will not reach him.

You are a hiding place for me |* You preserve me from distress; You surround me with songs of deliverance, Selah.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will advise you with my eye upon you.

Do not be like a horse or a mule, which have no understanding; whose mouth must be controlled with bit and bridle, lest they come near you.

Many are the agonies of the wicked, but he who trusts in Hashem, loving-kindness surrounds him.

Rejoice in Hashem and be glad, O righteous ones; and sing joyously, all you upright of heart.

6 41 5

For the conductor, a Psalm of David.

Fortunate is he who considers the destitute; on the day of evil, Hashem will deliver him.

Hashem will preserve him and keep him alive; he will be praised in the land, and You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

Hashem will support him on the bed of illness; You have overturned his entire bed in his sickness.

As for me, I said, "Hashem, show me favor; heal my soul, for I have sinned against You."

My enemies speak evil of me: "When will he die and his name perish?"

And if one comes to see me, he speaks falsehood; his heart gathers iniquity to itself; he goes outside and speaks of it.

All who hate me whisper together against me; against me they plot evil.

"An evil thing is poured into him, and now that he lies down, he will not rise again."

Even my ally in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.

But You, Hashem, show me favor and raise me up, that I may repay them.

By this I know that You delight in me, that my enemy does not triumph over me.

And as for me, You uphold me in my integrity, and You set me before You forever.

Blessed is Hashem, the God of Israel, from this world to the World to Come. Amen and Amen.

6 42 5

For the conductor, a Maskil of the sons of Korach.

As a deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

My tears have been my bread day and night, while they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"

These things I remember, and I pour out my soul within me: how I passed on with the throng, walking slowly with them to the House of God, with a voice of joyous song and thanksgiving, a celebrating multitude.

Why are you downcast, my soul, and why do you moan within me? Hope in God, for I will yet praise Him for the salvations of His presence.

My God, my soul is downcast within me; therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your water channels; all Your breakers and Your waves have passed over me.

By day Hashem will command His loving-kindness, and at night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.

I will say to God my Rock, "Why have You forgotten me? Why must I walk in gloom because of the oppression of the enemy?"

Like a crushing in my bones, my tormentors taunt me, while they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"

Why are you downcast, my soul, and why do you moan within me? Hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, the salvation of my countenance and my God.

6 59 5

For the conductor, Al Tashcheis, of David, a Michtam, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him.

Rescue me from my enemies, my God; strengthen me against those who rise up against me.

Rescue me from workers of iniquity, and save me from men of blood.

For behold, they lie in wait for my soul; fierce men gather against me, not for my transgression and not for my sin, Hashem.

Without iniquity on my part, they run and prepare themselves; awaken to help me, and see.

And You, Hashem, God of Hosts, God of Israel, arouse Yourself to punish all the nations; show no favor to any treacherous workers of iniquity, Selah.

They return at evening, they howl like a dog, and go around the city.

Behold, they spew forth with their mouths; swords are in their lips, for "Who hears?"

But You, Hashem, will laugh at them; You will mock all the nations.

Because of his strength, I will wait for You, for God is my stronghold.

The God of my loving-kindness will precede me; God will let me gloat over my watchful foes.

Do not kill them, lest my people forget; make them wander by Your power and bring them down, O Lord our Shield.

The sin of their mouth is the word of their lips; let them be trapped in their pride, and for the curses and lies they tell.

Consume them in wrath, consume them that they be no more; and let them know that God rules in Jacob, to the ends of the earth, Selah.

And they return at evening, they howl like a dog, and go around the city.

They wander about to eat; if they are not satisfied, they will stay all night.

But I will sing of Your strength, and I will sing joyously of Your loving-kindness in the morning, for You have been a stronghold for me, and a refuge on the day of my distress.

My Strength, to You I will sing praises, for God is my stronghold, the God of my loving-kindness.

6 77 5

For the conductor, on Jeduthun, of Asaph, a Psalm.

My voice is to God, and I will cry out; my voice is to God, and He will give ear to me.

On the day of my distress I sought the Lord; my hand was raised at night and did not rest; my soul refused to be comforted.

I remember God and I moan; I speak, and my spirit faints, Selah.

You held my eyelids open; I was troubled and could not speak.

I considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

I remember my song in the night; I commune with my heart, and my spirit searches.

Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He never again show favor?

Has His loving-kindness ceased forever? Is His promise ended for all generations?

Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He, in anger, shut up His compassion? Selah.

And I said, "It is my sickness, the change of the right hand of the Most High."

I will remember the deeds of God; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.

And I will meditate on all Your work, and speak of Your deeds.

O God, Your way is in holiness; what god is as great as God?

You are the God Who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the nations.

With Your arm You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph, Selah.

The waters saw You, O God, the waters saw You and were terrified; even the depths trembled.

The clouds poured down water; the skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows also swept across.

The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.

Your way was in the sea, and Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps were not known.

You led Your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

6 90 5

A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. O Lord, You have been a dwelling place for us in all generations.

Before the mountains were born, and You brought forth the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

You reduce man to dust, and You say, "Return, O children of men."

For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it passes, and like a watch in the night.

You sweep them away; they are like a sleep; in the morning they are like grass that sprouts anew.

In the morning it blossoms and sprouts anew; by evening it is cut down and dries up.

For we are consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are terrified.

You have set our iniquities before You, our hidden sins in the light of Your countenance.

For all our days pass away in Your fury; we consume our years like a fleeting thought.

The days of our years among them are seventy years, and if with strength, eighty years; and their pride is trouble and falsehood, for it passes quickly and we fly away.

Who knows the power of Your anger? And Your fury is according to the fear of You.

Teach us to number our days, that we may acquire a heart of wisdom.

Return, Hashem! How long? And relent concerning Your servants.

Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving-kindness, that we may sing joyously and be glad all our days.

Make us glad according to the days You have afflicted us, the years we have seen evil.

Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your majesty upon their children.

And let the pleasantness of the Lord our God be upon us; and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands, establish it.

6 105 5

Give thanks to Hashem, call upon His Name; make His deeds known among the nations.

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonders.

Glory in His holy Name; let the heart of those who seek Hashem rejoice.

Search for Hashem and His strength; seek His presence always.

Remember His wonders that He has done, His marvels, and the judgments of His mouth.

O seed of Abraham His servant, children of Jacob, His chosen ones.

He is Hashem our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

He remembers His covenant forever, the word He commanded to a thousand generations.

Which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac.

And He established it for Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant.

Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance."

When they were but a few men in number, very few, and strangers in it.

And they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.

He allowed no man to oppress them, and He reproved kings for their sakes.

"Do not touch My anointed ones, and do no harm to My prophets."

And He called a famine upon the land; He broke every staff of bread.

He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold as a slave.

They afflicted his foot with fetters; his soul came into iron.

Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of Hashem refined him.

The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples, and set him free.

He made him master of his house, and ruler over all his possessions.

To bind his princes at his pleasure, and to teach his elders wisdom.

Then Israel came to Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

And He made His people very fruitful, and made them stronger than their adversaries.

He turned their heart to hate His people, to plot against His servants.

He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen.

They performed among them the words of His signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.

He sent darkness and made it dark, and they did not rebel against His word.

He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish.

Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings.

He spoke, and swarms of wild beasts came, and lice in all their borders.

He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

He struck their vines and their fig trees, and broke the trees of their borders.

He spoke, and locusts came, and creeping locusts without number.

And they ate up every plant in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.

And He struck every firstborn in their land, the first of all their strength.

And He brought them out with silver and gold, and there was no one who stumbled among His tribes.

Egypt rejoiced when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon them.

He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light in the night.

They asked, and He brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

He opened the rock, and waters gushed out; they flowed in the dry places like a river.

For He remembered His holy word to Abraham His servant.

And He brought out His people with joy, His chosen ones with joyous song.

And He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited the labor of the peoples.

So that they might observe His statutes and keep His teachings. Hallelujah.

6 137 5

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and also wept, when we remembered Zion.

Upon the willows in its midst, we hung our harps.

For there our captors asked us for words of song, and our tormentors for mirth, saying, "Sing for us from the song of Zion."

How can we sing the song of Hashem on foreign soil?

If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill.

Let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not bring up Jerusalem above my highest joy.

Remember, Hashem, against the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem, who said, "Raze it, raze it, to its very foundation!"

O daughter of Babylon, who is to be destroyed, fortunate is he who repays you your recompense that you have dealt to us.

Fortunate is he who seizes and dashes your infants against the rock.

6 150 5

Hallelujah. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the firmament of His power.

Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His abundant greatness.

Praise Him with the blast of the shofar; praise Him with the lyre and the harp.

Praise Him with the tambourine and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and the flute.

Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals.

Let every soul praise God. Hallelujah.

Oh

that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Hashem returns the captivity of His people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad. And the salvation of the righteous is from Hashem; He is their stronghold in a time of distress. And Hashem helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they took refuge in Him.

Prayer After Reciting the Ten Psalms of The Tikkun HaKlali

Master

of the Universe, Almighty One, after we have completed The Tikkun HaKlali, with its ten Psalms, its words, its verses, and its letters, and I have finished saying it in awe, in fear, in trembling, and in quaking, grant me the merit, in the merit of having completed all ten Psalms of The Tikkun HaKlali, to hear the sound of the shofar of the right side. To hear the voice of Hashem, "The voice of Hashem breaks the cedars," a voice that does not allow one to eat or sleep, a voice that purifies the mind and removes all the barriers. Please, Hashem, in the merit of the Torah that preceded the creation of the world by two thousand years, "Because Hashem has anointed me to bring good tidings to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the eyes to those who are bound," grant me the merit to enter the Garden of Eden with my physical body. May I merit the Great Jubilee, to hear the shofar of the Geulah (Redemption) and the shofar of blessing, to go out to battle, to break out of all constrictions, and to tear down all the barriers. And through this, may the Awesome One in His deeds guard you with all might and power. May I merit, through the recitation of these ten Psalms, to purify the air of the world, just as it is said regarding Joseph the Tzaddik, 'that minor holy offerings may be eaten wherever one can see [Shiloh], all the way to Mount Hermon,' a privilege that did not exist for any other tribe, nor even in Jerusalem. In the merit of the ten Psalms, let there be no damaging entity, accuser, or adversary, and may I only merit the pure and clear air. May the verse be fulfilled in me, "Your iniquity is removed, and your sin is atoned for," and may all that I have sinned be atoned for me on this day that I have recited the ten Psalms. May I merit to be surrounded by a blazing, flaming fire, by a flame of fire. Please, Awesome One in deeds, Worker of wonders, to Whom belongs the earth and the heavens and all that is in them, give me the strength to wait and anticipate Mashiach at every moment and second. And I will wait "for the end, and it will not fail," through the power of reciting these ten Psalms, for "though he may tarry, I will wait for him, for he will surely come, he will not delay."

e

For the merit and success of the esteemed groom, R' Avraham Yehuda Leib son of Chana, and the esteemed bride, Adel daughter of Miriam. May they merit to build a faithful home in Israel in the path of our holy and awesome Rebbe, and in the path of our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, with peace of mind. May they merit to see children and grandchildren engaging in Torah and mitzvos, Amen.
