Prayer of The Tikkun HaKlali

עורך ראשי
Prayer of The Tikkun HaKlali

I hereby

bind myself, in saying these ten Psalms, to all the true tzaddikim of our generation, and to all the true tzaddikim who dwell in the dust, the holy ones who are in the earth, and specifically to the true and holy tzaddik, Tzaddik Yesod Olam (the tzaddik who is the foundation of the world), a flowing brook, the source of wisdom, joy, and emunah (faith), Rebbe Nachman son of Simchah son of Feiga. May his merit protect us and all of Israel, Amen.

Come,

let us sing joyously to Hashem, let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation: Let us greet Him with thanksgiving, with songs of praise let us shout for joy to Him: For Hashem is a great God, and a great King above all gods:

I hereby

prepare my mouth to thank, praise, and glorify my Creator, for the sake of the unification of the Holy One, Blessed be He, and His Shechinah (Divine Presence), in awe and love, through the Hidden and Concealed One, in the name of all Israel:

16

1. A Michtam of David. Guard me, O God, for I have taken refuge in You. 2. You have said to Hashem, "You are my Lord; my goodness is not incumbent upon You." 3. As for the holy ones who are in the earth, they are the noble ones in whom is all my delight. 4. May the sorrows of those who hasten after another [god] multiply; I will not pour their libations of blood, nor will I take their names upon my lips. 5. Hashem is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. 6. Portions have fallen to me in pleasant places; indeed, a beautiful inheritance is mine. 7. I will bless Hashem Who has counseled me; even at night my intellect instructs me. 8. I have set Hashem before me always; because He is at my right hand, I shall not falter. 9. Therefore my heart rejoices and my soul exults; my flesh, too, rests securely. 10. For You will not abandon my soul to the grave; You will not allow Your pious one to see the pit. 11. You will make known to me the path of life, the fullness of joys in Your presence, the pleasantness at Your right hand forever.

32

1. Of David, a Maskil. Fortunate is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2. Fortunate is the man to whom Hashem does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my anguished roaring all day long. 4. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my sap was turned into the droughts of summer, Selah. 5. I made my sin known to You, and my iniquity I did not cover up; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to Hashem," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin, Selah. 6. For this let every pious one pray to You at a time when You may be found; surely, the flood of mighty waters will not reach him. 7. You are a shelter for me |׀ You preserve me from distress; with songs of deliverance You encompass me, Selah. 8. I will instruct you and enlighten you in this path you should go; I will advise you, My eye is upon you. 9. Do not be like a horse or a mule, which have no understanding; whose mouth must be curbed with bit and bridle, lest they come near to you. 10. Many are the agonies of the wicked, but he who trusts in Hashem, loving-kindness surrounds him. 11. Rejoice in Hashem and exult, O tzaddikim, and sing for joy, all you upright of heart.

1. For the conductor, a Psalm of David. 2. Fortunate is he who considers the destitute; on the day of evil, Hashem will deliver him. 3. Hashem will preserve him and keep him alive; he will be praised in the land, and You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. 4. Hashem will support him on the bed of illness; You have overturned his entire bed in his sickness. 5. As for me, I said, "Hashem, be gracious to me; heal my soul, for I have sinned against You." 6. My enemies speak evil of me: "When will he die and his name perish?" 7. And if one comes to see me, he speaks falsehood; his heart gathers iniquity to itself; he goes outside and speaks of it. 8. Together all my enemies whisper against me; against me they plot evil for me. 9. "An evil thing is poured into him, and now that he lies down, he will not rise again." 10. Even my ally, in whom I trusted, who eats my bread, has raised his heel against me. 11. But You, Hashem, be gracious to me and raise me up, that I may repay them. 12. By this I know that You delight in me, that my enemy does not triumph over me. 13. And as for me, You uphold me in my integrity, and You set me before You forever. 14. Blessed is Hashem, the God of Israel, from this world to the World to Come. Amen and Amen.

1. For the conductor, a Maskil of the sons of Korach. 2. As a deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God. 3. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: "When shall I come and appear before God?" 4. My tears have been my bread day and night, while they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" 5. These things I remember, and I pour out my soul within me: how I passed on with the throng, walking slowly with them to the House of God, with a voice of joyous song and thanksgiving, a celebrating multitude. 6. Why are you downcast, my soul, and why do you moan within me? Hope in God, for I will yet thank Him for the salvations of His presence. 7. My God, my soul is downcast within me; therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. 8. Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your water channels; all Your breakers and Your waves have passed over me. 9. By day Hashem will command His loving-kindness, and at night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. 10. I will say to God my Rock, "Why have You forgotten me? Why must I walk in gloom because of the oppression of the enemy?" 11. Like a crushing in my bones, my tormentors taunt me, as they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?" 12. Why are you downcast, my soul, and why do you moan within me? Hope in God, for I will yet thank Him, the salvations of my countenance and my God.

1. For the conductor, "Al Tashcheis," of David, a Michtam, when Saul sent, and they guarded the house to kill him. 2. Rescue me from my enemies, my God; fortify me against those who rise up against me. 3. Rescue me from workers of iniquity, and save me from bloodthirsty men. 4. For behold, they lie in wait for my soul; fierce men gather against me, not for my transgression and not for my sin, Hashem. 5. Without iniquity [on my part], they run and prepare themselves; awaken toward me and see. 6. And You, Hashem, God of Hosts, God of Israel, awaken to punish all the nations; show no favor to any treacherous workers of iniquity, Selah. 7. They return at evening, they howl like a dog, and go around the city. 8. Behold, they spew forth with their mouths; swords are in their lips, for "Who hears?" 9. But You, Hashem, will laugh at them; You will mock all the nations. 10. Because of his strength, I will wait for You, for God is my stronghold. 11. The God of my loving-kindness will precede me; God will let me see the downfall of my watchful foes. 12. Do not kill them, lest my people forget; make them wander by Your power and bring them down, O Lord, our Shield. 13. The sin of their mouth is the word of their lips; let them be trapped in their pride, and for the curses and lies they recount. 14. Consume them in wrath, consume them that they be no more; and let them know that God rules in Jacob, to the ends of the earth, Selah. 15. And they return at evening, they howl like a dog, and go around the city. 16. They wander about to eat; if they are not satisfied, they will stay the night. 17. But I will sing of Your strength, and I will sing joyously of Your loving-kindness in the morning, for You have been a stronghold for me, and a refuge on the day of my distress. 18. My Strength, to You I will sing, for God is my stronghold, the God of my loving-kindness.

1. For the conductor, on Jeduthun, of Asaph, a Psalm. 2. My voice is to God, and I will cry out; my voice is to God, and He will listen to me. 3. On the day of my distress I sought the Lord; my hand was spread out at night and did not cease; my soul refused to be comforted. 4. I remember God and I moan; I speak, and my spirit faints, Selah. 5. You held my eyelids open; I was troubled and could not speak. 6. I thought about the days of old, the years of ancient times. 7. I remember my song in the night; I commune with my heart, and my spirit searches. 8. Will the Lord abandon forever? And will He never again show favor? 9. Has His loving-kindness ceased forever? Is His decree sealed for all generations? 10. Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He, in anger, shut off His mercy? Selah. 11. And I said, "It is to my infirmity, the change of the right hand of the Most High." 12. I will remember the deeds of God; for I will remember Your wonders of old. 13. And I will meditate on all Your works, and speak of Your deeds. 14. O God, Your way is in holiness; what god is as great as God? 15. You are the God Who works wonders; You made Your strength known among the nations. 16. With Your arm You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph, Selah. 17. The waters saw You, O God, the waters saw You and trembled; even the depths quaked. 18. The clouds poured down water; the skies gave forth a sound; even Your arrows went forth. 19. The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world; the earth quaked and trembled. 20. Your way was in the sea, and Your path in the mighty waters, and Your footsteps were not known. 21. You led Your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

1. A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. O Lord, You have been a dwelling place for us in all generations. 2. Before the mountains were born, and You brought forth the earth and the world, and from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. 3. You reduce man to dust, and You say, "Return, O children of men." 4. For a thousand years in Your eyes are like yesterday when it passes, and like a watch in the night. 5. You sweep them away, they are like a sleep; in the morning they are like grass that sprouts anew. 6. In the morning it blossoms and sprouts anew; by evening it is cut down and dries up. 7. For we are consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are terrified. 8. You have set our iniquities before You, our hidden sins in the light of Your countenance. 9. For all our days pass away in Your fury; we consume our years like a fleeting thought. 10. The days of our years among them are seventy years, and if with strength, eighty years; and their pride is toil and iniquity, for it passes quickly and we fly away. 11. Who knows the power of Your anger? And according to the fear of You is Your fury. 12. Teach us to number our days, that we may attain a heart of wisdom. 13. Return, Hashem! How long? And relent concerning Your servants. 14. Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving-kindness, that we may sing joyously and rejoice all our days. 15. Gladden us according to the days You afflicted us, the years we saw evil. 16. Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your splendor upon their children. 17. And let the pleasantness of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; and the work of our hands, establish it.

105

1. Give thanks to Hashem, call upon His name; make His deeds known among the nations. 2. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonders. 3. Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek Hashem rejoice. 4. Search for Hashem and His strength; seek His presence always. 5. Remember His wonders that He performed, His miracles and the judgments of His mouth. 6. O seed of Abraham His servant, children of Jacob, His chosen ones. 7. He is Hashem our God; His judgments are in all the earth. 8. He remembers His covenant forever, the word He commanded to a thousand generations. 9. Which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac. 10. And He established it for Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant. 11. Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance." 12. When they were but a few men in number, very few, and strangers in it. 13. And they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people. 14. He allowed no man to oppress them, and He reproved kings for their sake. 15. "Do not touch My anointed ones, and do no harm to My prophets." 16. And He called a famine upon the land; He broke every staff of bread. 17. He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold as a slave. 18. They afflicted his foot with fetters; his soul was placed in iron. 19. Until the time that his word came to pass, the decree of Hashem purged him. 20. The king sent and released him, the ruler of nations set him free. 21. He made him master of his house, and ruler over all his possessions. 22. To bind his princes at his will, and to make his elders wise. 23. Then Israel came to Egypt, and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. 24. And He made His people very fruitful, and made them stronger than their adversaries. 25. He turned their heart to hate His people, to plot against His servants. 26. He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen. 27. They performed among them the words of His signs, and miracles in the land of Ham. 28. He sent darkness and made it dark, and they did not rebel against His word. 29. He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish. 30. Their land swarmed with frogs, in the chambers of their kings. 31. He spoke, and swarms of wild beasts came, lice throughout all their borders. 32. He gave them hail for rain, flaming fire in their land. 33. And He struck their vines and their fig trees, and broke the trees of their borders. 34. He spoke, and the locust came, and the creeping locust without number. 35. And they ate up all the vegetation in their land, and ate the fruit of their ground. 36. And He struck every firstborn in their land, the first of all their strength. 37. And He brought them out with silver and gold, and there was no one who stumbled among His tribes. 38. Egypt rejoiced when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon them. 39. He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light at night. 40. They asked, and He brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. 41. He opened the rock and water gushed out; it flowed in the dry places like a river. 42. For He remembered His holy word to Abraham His servant. 43. And He brought out His people with joy, His chosen ones with joyous song. 44. And He gave them the lands of the nations, and the toil of the peoples they inherited. 45. So that they might keep His statutes and observe His teachings. Halleluyah!

137

1. By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and also wept, when we remembered Zion. 2. Upon the willows in its midst we hung our harps. 3. For there our captors asked us for words of song, and our tormentors for joy: "Sing for us from the song of Zion!" 4. How can we sing the song of Hashem on foreign soil? 5. If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill. 6. Let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not elevate Jerusalem above my foremost joy. 7. Remember, Hashem, against the sons of Edom the day of Jerusalem, who said, "Raze it, raze it, down to its foundation!" 8. O daughter of Babylon, who is destined to be destroyed, fortunate is he who repays you your recompense that you have dealt to us. 9. Fortunate is he who seizes and dashes your infants against the rock.

150

1. Halleluyah! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the firmament of His power. 2. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His abundant greatness. 3. Praise Him with the blast of the shofar; praise Him with the lyre and harp. 4. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and the flute. 5. Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with clashing cymbals. 6. Let every soul praise God. Halleluyah!

Oh, that

the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Hashem returns the captivity of His people, Jacob will exult, Israel will rejoice. And the salvation of the tzaddikim is from Hashem, their stronghold in time of distress: And Hashem helps them and rescues them; He rescues them from the wicked and saves them, because they took refuge in Him.
