The 7,000 people of the Chesed L'Avraham

CHESED L’AVRAHAM 3 - ON THE SPLENDOR WITHIN  ERETZ YISRAEL AT THE TIME OF THE COMING OF THE MOSHIACH

The following is a translation of the famous passage from the Chesed L'Avraham that is often quoted, discussing the day when Moshiach comes.

Know, that the received tradition in our hands is that on that same day that the Moshiach comes, together with the kibbutz galiot (ingathering of the exiles) to Eretz Yisrael, on that same day, there will be found in Eretz Yisrael 7,000 of the Children of Israel.

And on that same day, the dead will be revived in the Aretz (land of Israel). And on that same day, a wall of fire will depart from Jerusalem, and on that same day, the Beit HaMikdash (Temple) will be built from precious stones and pearls.

And on that same day, the dead in Israel will return and at the time of their revival they will be a new spiritual creation. And also the 7,000 who remained alive, everyone will be a new creation, with a spiritual body, like the body of Adam HaRishon before the sin, and like the body of [Chanoch and] Moshe Rabbenu, a”h, [and Eliyahu].

AND EVERYONE WILL ROAM IN THE AIR AND FLY LIKE EAGLES AND BACK AND ALL THIS BEFORE THE EYES OF THE PEOPLE FROM THE KIBBUTZ GALIOT.

And when the Israelites, the sons of the ingathered exiles, see that their brothers have been made into a new [spiritual] creation, and are blossoming in the air, to go…to the Lower Gan Eden, to learn Torah from the mouth of Hashem Yitbarach, then, the sons of the kibbutz galiot will become worried in their hearts, and anguished in their souls.

And they will become angered towards the King Moshiach, and will say: ‘For aren’t we also the Children of Israel too, like them?! From where did they gain the merit to be spiritual beings, both in their body and their Nefesh (animal soul), which is not the case with us, and why are we less?’

And the King Moshiach will say to them, ‘It’s already known and publicised that every measure of HaKadosh Baruch Hu is midda kneged midda (a measure for a measure). Those who were in chutz l’aretz (i.e. outside of Israel); and who tried to come to the Aretz in order to merit a pure Nefesh (animal soul); and who didn’t concern themselves about their money, and not about their bodies; and who came through sea and dry land, and who didn’t concern themselves about being drowned in the sea, or robbed on dry land, nor of being kidnapped captives held by cruel lords.

> And because they made their spirit and their Nefesh the ikker (main focus), and not their bodies nor their money, so they were returned a level of spirituality measure for measure.

And you, who could have come to the Aretz the same as they did, but you were negligent in coming, because of your love of money, and you were concerned about your money and your bodies. And so, you made those things the ikker, and your spirituality and your nefesh the tofel (secondary thing) - so, you are remaining gashmi’yim (materialistic), measure for measure.

AND THE LOVE OF MONEY THAT YOU LUSTED AFTER, HERE, HASHEM YITBARACH WILL GIVE YOU NO END OF MONEY!

All the silver and gold and precious stones and pearls that were sunk in the sea throughout time, the sea has been sworn to bring them all to the Sea of Yaffo (i.e. the Mediterranean) within three days of their sinking.

And everything that has been sunk since the six days of creation until the days of Solomon, the Sea of Yaffo threw everything up onto dry land. And from this, Solomon became rich. And everything that was submerged from the time of Solomon until the time of the kibbutz galiot, in the future the Sea of Yaffo will throw everything up on to dry land for you, and the Moshiach will share a part of them out to each and every Tzaddik.

….[B]ecause the bounty of the seas you will suckle, and also all the treasures that are under the ground, in the future the Aretz will be made to form tunnels and holes, to reveal and transport all the treasure of kings, and to transport them to Eretz Yisrael….

AND EVERYTHING WILL BE REVEALED TO THE KING MOSHIACH WITHIN ERETZ YISRAEL, AND HE WILL DISTRIBUTE THEM TO THE PEOPLE OF THE KIBBUTZ GALIOT, EACH ONE THEIR SHARE.

And the ones who were particular about their money and their bodies will be sated with plenty of money, and will remain gashmiyim, and satisfied by money.

And those who weren’t concerned about their bodies and their money, but instead only about their spirituality, HaKadosh Baruch Hu will make them into a new creation, and will transfer them to the Lower Gan Eden, as is deserved.
